Ditch the Disposables Video & Giveaway!

It’s been a while since our last video, but I think you’ll agree that this one is worth the wait.

Many of you have probably perused our Why Switch? section, which I admit verges on being overly extensive (there are a lot of reasons, after all!)  While the argument will be old news to our existing customers, our latest video is a one minute snappy version for women who have never heard of Lunapads (or even thought of cloth pads).  It’s also an entertaining little kick in the pants (pads?) to those fence-sitters out there, in the hopes that they will be inspired to relinquish their fears and reservations to take the leap to a brighter, more eco-positive menstrual future!

Do you have some friends who you’ve been meaning to tell about Lunapads, but didn’t know how?  Here’s the perfect thing to send their way!

Now, about that Giveaway:
Complete the 3 steps below & you’ll be entered to win 1 of 5 $25 gift certificates for Lunapads.com!

1. Watch the video on our YouTube Channel
2. Use the buttons below the video to Share via Facebook or Twitter, or <Embed> onto your blog or website. Tip: Use #clothpadsftw on Twitter and @Lunapads.com on Facebook.

3. Comment below telling us where you posted our video, including a link, if possible.

This is also a perfect opportunity to express some gratitude: Nancee, our summer marketing intern, fearlessly piloted this project from start to finish, bringing a happy mix of technical experience, creative insight and patient feedback-taking to the project. Some final visual and musical touches came via our uber-competent webmaster and all-round tech/creative Lunagal Lisa and her trusty accomplices Morgan and Sara. I know that I speak for everyone here when I say: It’s been great having you with us this summer, Nancee. We are totally thrilled with your work – thank you!

Thanks you guys for all your support, we ♥ you!!!  We’ll announce the 5 winners in September’s newsletter. (And if you have any other ideas or suggestions for future videos, please let us know below!)

Ew. 20 Billion feminine products go into landfills? That is so gross! I’m glad I haven’t been contributing to that for 4 years! $25 would be great toward my new stash!

I shared on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home I hope I win, I made some of my own pads but they are not comfortable. I think I used too stiff a material for the absorblant part.

While i am still making the switch over to cloth pads i went ahead and shared the video on my fb page:

Interesting video. But I don’t know, honestly, how effective it will be. It relies on the “peer pressure” advertising trick — “millions sold!” “most popular!” etc etc, which really says nothing about the quality of the product.

And it focuses on the environmental and cost-saving benefits, which is good, don’t get me wrong. But it doesn’t address the “squick” factor that many women not familiar with this kind of product would have. “Okay, I love the environment, but that’s just gross.”

I think something MORE effective would be along the lines of feminine empowerment… Being more in connection with our bodies and cycles. And the health and hygienic benefits… less odour, more comfortable, no toxic shock, reduced PMS and cramping for most women, etc. Those could all be ‘dressed up’ into a snappy format like this too.

Don’t mean to be a downer lol… I’ll definitely be sharing this! But I do think it’s too… surfacey. It’s just “yay disposables” without really offering any benefits other than eco-savings, which isn’t incentive enough for many women to look into it more. Not worth the perceived drawbacks, as it were. JMO. :)

Love using reusable pads! I need some new ones~ I have been frugally using the same ones for 12 years. Decided to make the switch when my son was a baby and I was using cloth diapers for him. Realized that I was making a big impact environmentally with my disposable products and needed to find an alternative.

When I watch the video it makes me so proud to know that since I’ve made the switch, not only am I really cool for doing so, I’m doing something great for the earth, for myself, and for feminism ’round the globe.

I am excited t get some luna pads I have been using the diva cup and loove it, but now I am pregnant so I will have to use pads after the birth so I am glad that I can buy natural products that are re-usable. I also own the peri-bottle and used it daily. Simple to use and leaves me feeling much cleaner.
