Hathor Lube Love at Lunapads

Always on the look out for great products that embody eco-positive messages, it made perfect sense to introduce Hathor Lubricant to our collection of “Extras” (the category name we use for additional great products we love).
Hey, wait a minute! Am I really talking publicly about lubes? Yup, I have become such a fan of this product that I’m willing to go all out and publicly attest to its outstanding quality and efficacy for it’s intended purpose (wink!).

Similar to the DivaCup, the successful duo behind Hathor is a mother and daughter team. Here are snippets of my conversation with the co-founder of Hathor, Mellta Swift.
When and why did you start the business? Hathor Aphrodisia was created in 1989. After a decade in private practice (as a certified Herbalist, Aromatherapist & Esthetician) I decided to create my own line of facial and body spa treatment products that used natural ingredients. Nathanda, my daughter and partner grew up with the business and joined me after completing school. While shopping for lube one day and reading the ingredient list, we realized that there were few lubricants on the market made with safe, plant based ingredients. From then, our goal became “to lubricate the nation” by creating a lube that was free of parabens, synthetic flavors, fragrances or glycerins: that is how Hathor Lubricant Pure was born.
What are some of your challenges? Our biggest challenge has been to educate retailers and consumers: getting them to understand why they should pay a premium and buy a higher quality eco-friendly product like Hathor. Fortunately, times are changing and people have become more aware of the importance of what goes into the products they put on and in their bodies.
What do you love about your industry? What can I say? Sex is fun and people who work in the “pleasure industry” tend to be interesting characters. It takes an open and relaxed demeanor to be successful in the world of sex. Hathor is named after the Ancient Egyptian goddess of love, beauty, music, motherhood and joy and embodies the feminine principle of health, beauty, sensuality, love and eroticism. We believe that sex plays an important role in health and well being; the products you purchase for sex should be as natural and healing as your facial products.
Well said! What’s not to love about these women and their products?
For the month of April 2011, Hathor Lubricant is on sale for $16 a tube. Not convinced this product is truly amazing and worth a try? Starting on April 1, we’re giving away 100 trial samples (0.35 oz or 10 ml) of Hathor with all orders (note: you must opt in for a free sample at Checkout). Act quickly before the samples are all gone. Don’t miss the fun and don’t forget to comment to tell us what you think!
