Karma Suds Giveaway: Greening Your Clean

retro cleaning Karma Suds Giveaway: Greening Your Clean

← Continued from Businesses We Love: Karma Suds

After switching to washable cloth pads like Lunapads or perhaps the DivaCup, you may start questioning the products you are using in other areas of your life, as well. Well, over the holidays I had a sudsy revolution start at my house! I met up with my friend Rene from Karma Suds and she shared some of her awesome products with me. One of her products that was a real surprise and delight to me were her versatile liquid soaps.

I had a busy and tough time over the holidays, and my house was the worse for wear; the ultimate household cleaning challenge to test out Karma Suds. I made a batch of household cleaner using the Karma Suds Hemp Liquid Soap base that Rene gave me and  proceeded with typical Lunagal openness and curiosity. I sprayed and wiped and attacked with joy the most grotty places (oven canopy, fridge and cupboards.)

The results? All I can say is WOW! No chemical smells, and no gloves required to clean with Karma Suds! I was left with a shiny clean kitchen, and the realization of how much money I could save and how many bottles and products full of toxins can be replaced with an organic natural alternative that works. Yahoo!

Karma Suds liquid soap can be used to mix your own shampoo, too! A real “A-ha! moment” for me, kind of like when I clued in to how awesome Lunapads are.  I know I may be a little slower with these discoveries than some of you, but lots of us are new to the revelations of the marketing/brainwashing we have been subjected to. It seems more and more people are embracing the old ways of doing things (which are sometimes the best ways!) Next up: the teenager’s bathroom. Send me strength!

Now onto the fun stuff:

Here’s your chance to have your own green cleaning revolution! Rene has donated a lovely gift basket for 1 lucky reader containing:

1 x Ultimate Olive Oil Bar Soap
1 x Forest Path Natural Bar Soap
1 x Organic Olive Oil Liquid Soap
1 x Natural Intention Stone Soap

Contest ends January 30th. Good luck!

Love this! My resolution this year is to continue my family’s migration over to the green side when it comes to our household cleaners. We’ve traded in Windex for Method, but I’d love to be able to trade Method in for Karma Suds!

I actually succeeded in so many of last year’s “green resolutions” that I was on the lookout for new ones for 2012 when I happened upon this post!  I love the idea of reducing the number of unnatural products in the bathroom, especially by using one liquid soap base to make shampoo, hand soap, and household cleaner.  Thanks for running this giveaway!

So far this year, I have switched to natural deodorant & am experimenting on homemade shampoos.

Last year I discovered I had skin sensitivity issues which encouraged me to use greener detergents and household products. I’d love to broaden my horizons this year and try more green products, especially ones made by awesome female-run businesses! Thanks, Lunapads!!

I would love to be able to better get away from the chemical cleaners that are under my sink right now.  This sounds like a great give-away!  :)

If my daughter uses cloth diapers, I think I should step into trying out reusable cloth menstrual pads.  That is my 2012 resolution…switch to reusable cloth.

My 2012 resolution is to compost! We did get our compost set up in the spring, but I’m still feeling very “new” to it and don’t do as much as I could. I’d also love to plant a garden. :)

I don’t know if anybody has alerted you, but your link to the Soap Making School’s Blog is invalid. I got there and subscribed anyway, but thought you might want to fix it!

    <3 luna pads!

  • Deanna

That school looks soo cool!!  I am definitely going to look  more into it.  I love all natural products (especially with 3 kiddos, they get to learn how to treat our planet properly too!!)

  • Deanna

We are using as much reusable products as we can (cloth diapers, mamacloth, lunch box things like reusable baggies, sandwich keepers etc).  We try to use environmentally friendly cleaning products (both for the home and for ourselves), and I discovered “Freecycle” where you can post unwanted items for others to use as well…

  • Lisa Kuhl

I recently started using all natural home made bath and body products

I’ve been making my own wet wipes.

  • Laura D

I normally make my own laundry soap and love using that instead of store bought stuff. The smell is better and my clothes get cleaner.  We’re planning to use cloth diapers and go minimalist with baby things, as part of being green for us is not buying into the overwhelming American consumerism.  These products would be great to have.  I’m always looking for ways to keep the house clean without too many chemicals.

  • Pat

LOVE Luna Pads (and Diva cup).. Am really into natural product. Use Soap nuts for laundry, air dry most my stuff to save on energy with dryer, use Tropical Traditions Coconut soap, lotion as wells as Dr. Bronners and ZUM soap products.  Would love to try this product.

I started using coconut oil for everything! Lotion, moisturizer, lip gloss, conditioner..I just need to get rid of all of our shampoo to be totally green. <3

  • Brie B.

So how do you use this stuff as shampoo?

    • Komara

There are recipes for how to dilute the liquid soap for various needs. Rene is creating a recipe brochure or pop us an email at lunapads and we will send them to you.

  • Emma

i would love a more natural soap. THey are pricey

  • Komara

Rene of Karma Suds also has a soap making school! http://www.soapmakingschool.com/ if you are making your own she has amazing soapy things to teach you! Teaching is her passion
