Fun, colourful fabrics are one of the best parts of using Lunapads. Using something beautiful instead of something bleak and boring makes having your period more tolerable. Who doesn’t get a kick out of choosing Lunapads to suit their mood…or outfit! Everyone has their favourite print. That’s why we get so excited when we get new fabrics in at Lunapads.

It just so happens that 2 new fabrics have recently arrived at our factory. Before we can put them up on the website, we need your help in giving them catchy names. Suggest a name in the comments below; if your name suggestion is chosen, not only will the name live on in infamy on our website, you’ll also win a Sampler Pack in the fabric that you’ve named! You can enter as many times as you like. Keep in mind that we like descriptive names, ones that include a colour…and we’re always suckers for alliteration! The first fabric will be paired with black fleece, and the second with bubblegum pink. Be sure to tell your friends about the contest on Twitter and Facebook, too. A free Sampler pack is a great way for a cloth pad newbie to get off the fence and on their way to more eco-positive periods.

“Eww”; it’s a reaction we hear a lot from people who are learning about the concept of reusable menstrual products for the first time. Frankly, we aren’t surprised that people are uncomfortable with the idea, given the amount of fear and shame that has followed menstruation around, pretty much since the dawn of humanity. With all the negative advertising used to sell conventional menstrual products, the culture of silence surrounding menstruation, and the apparent lack of interest from the scientific and medical community in regards to menstrual issues, there’s a lot of baggage and misinformation to overcome in order for people to get comfortable with their reproductive systems and their byproducts. I’m frankly encouraged and impressed by the amount of people who DO use reusable menstrual products!

And yet the “Eww” factor always manages to baffle me. We hear it from all kinds of people; tampon users, disposable pad users, cloth diapering moms, feminists, environmentalists, young and old. The reason is always the same, “You want me to wash my pads/cup and use them again!? Isn’t that unsanitary?”

Well guess what, folks? I am here to tell you that the disposable products you may currently be using might not be as “sanitary” as you think.

We have been absolutely ecstatic with the entry turn out for this year’s video contest! Lets give a round of applause for all those brave souls who took out their video cameras and shared their LunaRevolution stories with all of us. The videos were unique, creative and simply awesome. Although the submission period is over, the excitement ain’t over yet! We are very pleased to announce the beginning of our voting period! To clarify, that’s 1 vote for 3 different submissions per day. Vote by clicking on the vote now button next to each video entry. If you really want your favorite video to win, select the “Share on my wall” option to get other friends on Facebook to vote. Get everyone in on the action!

Along with the big office move, we’ve been receiving some more really great entries for the LunaRevolution Video Festival and Contest. We just have to say: how creative and tech savvy are our customers?!

For me, the best part is watching new video submissions. I never know what to expect. In the middle of moving, we received notification for a new submission featuring a talking…Lunapad! Following this, we received another notification for a new video where a contestant mimes her LunaRevolution. After that, another video about the savings that Lunapads bring. Today in the morning? A creatively edited teen LunaRevolution.

Its been really neat to see the diversity among our contest participants. These videos really communicate how many different women have benefited from switching from disposable to reusable menstrual products. This is definitely something our entire office can be very proud of!

We’ve been receiving some awesome entries so far for the LunaRevolution Video Festival & Contest. What we’ve been loving the most is the creativity and variety of videos that have been coming our way. They’ve been arriving in every shape and form…from full out edited movies, to honest story telling, to empowering slide shows! Even more, they’ve been coming from Lunapads fans of all ages!

4 days heavy flow, 3 days medium flow, 3 days light flow.

If you are currently using disposable products, which ones do you use, and for what needs?
Super tampons for 4 days, regular tampons 3 days, light tampons 2 days, pantyliners for backup.

Why do you want to switch to reusable menstrual products?
I want to switch because I hate using both disposable tampons and pads. The tampons hurt me and the pads always smell. Because of this I always hate it when I get my period and its so expensive to keep re-buying, and now that I have a baby I need to find a way to save money, and I feel that the tampons and pads are to much of a waste.

Anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
Im a full time mom with 1 baby, love arts&crafts

Based on your own experience, what message do you have for other women who might be thinking about reusable menstrual products?
I support them all the way!

3 days light flow, light daily discharge throughout the month.

If you are currently using disposable products, which ones do you use, and for what needs?

Thin pads overnight for three days and pantyliners throughout the rest of the month (such a fuss and always had to make sure no leakage over the sides)!!

What reusable menstrual products do you currently use?
Maxi or long pads for overnights.

Why do you want to switch to reusable menstrual products?

I want to switch because considering that there are four women in my family and we all get our cycles intermixed or what not (everyone gets it about at the same time) we use a lot!! The amount of money we spend on pads is ridiculous and reusable products would save a lot of money and less grumpy moments (stressful time of the month after all!)

Based on your own experience, what message do you have for other women who might be thinking about reusable menstrual products?

Definitely more convenient and easy to use!!
