    Recommended For:
    Average Flow, Heavy Flow, Active

Includes 1 DivaCup, storage pouch, pin, and complete instructions for use and care.
The DivaCup is an internally worn reusable silicone menstrual cup that can be worn for up to 12 hours before emptying, washing and reinserting for use for another 12 hours. It can be used for light or moderate flows and is emptied more often to accommodate heavy flows. Perfect for overnight use, and a great alternative to tampons!

Size 1 is recommended for those under 30 years old who have never delivered vaginally or by caesarean section. Size 2 is recommended if you are older than 30 OR have delivered vaginally or by c-section.

The DivaCup is made of a high quality, soft healthcare grade silicone that starts as a liquid. Then the molecules are bound together (or vulcanized) with very high heat to form a solid stable piece of silicone (similar to the feel of soft rubber). The DivaCup is cured after production in an oven at a very high temperature to make sure all the molecules are bound and “chain linked” together.  Since the end product is a solid material yet flexible and durable, there is no possibility for anything to leak into the body (no leaching).

This form of silicone is odorless, latex-free, plastic-free and BPA-free. It has been used safely in healthcare applications for over 50 years. Our silicone is approved for use in The DivaCup as feminine hygiene protection by the FDA and Health Canada.

The FDA has cleared The DivaCup for use by the FDA for use as feminine hygiene protection. It also holds a current Health Canada medical device license.

The DivaCup should be thoroughly cleaned at least twice a day (do not wear continuously for longer than 12 hours at a time.) Washing the cup in mild soap and warm water provides sufficient cleansing. The best cleaning agent to use is The DivaWash. We have formulated it as a pH balanced wash that is best for the cup and you, because it does not leave residue.

Remember to wash your hands before inserting and removing your DivaCup.

The DivaCup’s top quality, healthcare grade silicone can tolerate high temperatures. At the end of each cycle The DivaCup should be washed and rinsed as specified and then submerged in an open pan of boiling water (continuous rolling boil) for twenty (20) minutes. Do not leave the boiling pot unattended and use enough water so that the pan does not boil dry.

Do not use vinegar, tea tree oil, scented soap, antibacterial soap, hydrogen peroxide, bleach, rubbing alcohol or harsh chemicals as these may damage the silicone and ruin the cup. We do not recommend cleaning The DivaCup in the dishwasher because chemicals, detergents and residue from previous dishwashing could harm the cup.

After use and proper cleaning, the cup must be placed in a storage that allows for air flow. The DivaCup comes with its own drawstring cotton pouch.

The four holes under the rim of the DivaCup are of vital importance. They create the seal that secures the cup in place. If the holes need extra cleaning, we suggest that you fill the cup with warm water. Cover the top with your palm, sealing it up. Turn it upside down (still sealed by your palm) and then, apply pressure to the sides of The DivaCup pushing the water out through the sides. This removes residue left in the holes. To clean the stem and/or holes, you can also soak the cup in warm water for a few minutes then use a soft toothbrush (specifically designated only for the cup) for this. You can use a toothpick (discarding after use), as well. We do not suggest a pin as it may cause damage to the cup.

On your first trial with The DivaCup, make sure you are relaxed and have time to read the User Guide thoroughly beforehand. Insertion and removal will only take a few seconds once you master the technique.

Wash your hands well with warm water and soap. Rinse. While sitting or standing in a comfortable position, insert your DivaCup according to the following instructions.

Step 1: "U" Fold - Moisten the rim of The DivaCup with water if needed. Press the sides of the cup together and then fold it in half again. You can also do the "Push Down" fold by placing a finger on the top rim of the cup and pressing it down into the center of the inside base to form a triangle.

Step 2: Hold - Hold the folded sides firmly between your thumb and forefinger. The single curved edge should be facing away from your palm.

Step 3: Insert - With the vaginal muscles relaxed, gently separate the labia with your free hand and then push the curved edge of the folded DivaCup into the vaginal opening.

Step 4: Removal - Wash your hands well with warm water and soap. Rinse. Pull gently on the stem until you can reach the base of the cup. Pinch the base of the cup to release the seal and continue to pull down to remove. The contents should not spill during removal. Simply empty the contents in the toilet, wash it well with warm, soapy water, and reinsert.

    1. Amazing! Review by Dr Ob/Gyn
      Quality

As an Ob/Gyn physician, I thought I had heard of everything on the market, until one of my patients mentioned the Diva Cup. Hesitantly, I purchased one for myself for "educational purposes", never intending to end up using it myself.... and now I'm definitely a convert!!!! No more icky pads or dangling stings for me!
As A Diva Cup model 2 user, I was concerned initially about the possibility for leaks, having seen what childbirth can do to the normal anatomy. However, after just one cycle, and experimenting with different folds to get the cup into place, I am happy to say I have NEVER leaked. The key is placing the cup high enough into the vagina so it's not felt, and ensuring the cup unfolds to create its proper seal.
I now frequently recommend the DivaCup to my patients. It's environmentally friendly, discrete, easy to use, and safe. (Posted on 11/9/14)

    4. Totally Changes Your Period - It's Like You Don' Even Have It! Review by Liv
      Quality

Menstrual cups are definitely game-changers. When I wear my Diva Cup, it's almost as if I don't even have my period...what a miracle!

First, why they're better than pads/tampons:
Some people are "grossed out" by the fact that menstrual cups have to be dumped and rinsed out once in a while. But which is more disgusting: having a damp, bloody pad sit in your underwear and having to wrap it up and throw it out, having a bloody dangling tampon string in your underwear and having to wrap it up and throw it out, or wearing a cup with nothing in your underwear and just rinsing it out? Pads are highly susceptible to bacteria growth, because they are damp and can sit in your underwear for hours. Not to mention, they're wet and uncomfortable, and you have to watch what clothing you wear with them. Tampons can cause toxic shock syndrome because they not only absorb blood but also healthy fluids and mucus membrane from your body. Cups simply sit low in the vaginal canal and collect blood as it falls. It doesn't leak because it works using suction and is made of soft silicone that shapes to your body as it moves.

Now, my experience with Diva Cup:
I am 19 and have never given birth, so I ordered a model 1 size. My first cycle with the cup was a little difficult. At first, it was frustrating to insert the cup - but then I remembered how difficult tampons had seemed at first! I kept trying and experimented with different ways to fold the cup - I learned that the "push-down" fold works best for me. Once inserted, the cup adjusts and settles, and it feels as if you're wearing nothing at all. Perfect! The cup leaked a lot the first few times I wore it. Because of this, I wore it with a panty liner and didn't wear it at night. After doing some investigating online I realized the cup must not be opening up all the way, which prevented a tight seal and made room for leaks to occur. I watched some helpful youtube videos on common causes of leaking cups, and found some tips to help it open properly and avoid the leaking. My second cycle with the cup was perfect! By then, I could insert it easily and used the tips and tricks I learned to make sure it opened properly once inserted. There were no leaks, even on my heaviest days. Now I can sleep, swim, and work out with the cup, without worrying about leaks. I once wore the cup for 12 hours straight on one of my heaviest days and didn't have a single leak. The best part is that I can put the cup in and forget about it all day - no more running to the bathroom every few hours to check/change pads and tampons, and no more worrying about whether I have enough pads/tampons in my purse. No more buying/disposing of pads and tampons, and no more limitations on what I can wear when I have my period. Again, when I wear the cup it's as if I don't have my period at all - and for most women that's a miracle! (Posted on 7/10/14)

    5. If at first you don't succeed, try try again! Review by Caroline
      Quality

I have been using the DivaCup for about 9 years and I love it. I read a few of the bad reviews today and I wanted to add my positive review to help any potential buyers. You have to give it some time. You have to be patient and relaxed. You might need to do some internet research for how to get the perfect seal to avoid leaks. You will probably also need to experiment with different ways to insert the cup. Do not give up! It took me a few months and lots of adjusting, but I am so in love with this product. I would recommend it to anyone, especially if you're tired of wasting money on tampons that leak, are uncomfortable and have to be changed every few hours. Give it some time and you will love it too!! (Posted on 6/29/14)

    6. Amazing product Review by Jamie
      Quality

I don't usually leave reviews, but I must say that after 8 years of using the Diva Cup, I appreciate this product so much that I thought I would share my experience. When I discovered that there was an alternative to tampons I was THRILLED. Tampons give me terrible cramps, can be potentially life-threatening, and just have always seemed all around unhygienic to me( the smell, the chemicals, the string hanging out). The Diva Cup is the exact opposite! In my experience it is incredibly comfortable, eco-friendly, cost-effective, safe, and cleaner. My period is quite heavy on the first day or two, and yet, with the cup I RARELY have any leaks. I also noticed a reduction in cramps because the cup sits low and comfortably. The cup has made my periods so manageable that I can just go about my life without any inconvenience. Can't recommend this product enough, SERIOUSLY!!! (Posted on 4/12/14)

    7. NO more tampons! Review by TJ
      Quality

I normally don't leave reviews but I thought I would with the diva cup. I originally had doubts about the cup and read a lot of reviews. With my job and lifestyle sometimes tampons are just not an easy thing to use so I decided I had nothing to lose to try the diva cup. So I chose the diva cup 1 even though I was over 30, but I didn't have kids. I had some issues with leakage and getting it in properly. I thought that it was just normal. But I decided to take a chance and try the cup 2 that was recommended over age of 30 and/or kids. Im a small person 5'4 and 130 pounds so thats why I thought the cup 1 would be better. I was wrong. Stick to the recommended size. It makes a world of difference. I saw an immediate improvement. No more leaks! Super easy to put in and no twisting around to get it just right. It sits up better so nothing is hanging down. I can't believe how easy it is, and the best part is I don't even notice its there. Having a period is sooo much easier! (Posted on 3/26/14)

    8. Get to know your body, plan a little, and you'll be fine! Review by Bryna
      Quality

I have had my Diva cup for longer than they say it will last, and although it's a bit discolored, it still works fine. It did take some practice and being very comfortable with my own body to get it in right (and know what "right" feels like), but I absolutely love it, and although I've used the occasional tampon since it got it, those were really only for emergencies, when my period arrived earlier than expected. I find that toward the end of my period, when the flow reduces, I need to use a little lube to help get it in easily, but when I do, it goes in quickly and easily. I've never had it overflow, and I plan my time to empty/clean it according to when I expect to be home, so I don't have to worry about cleaning and reinserting it in a public bathroom. I actually find it much more convenient than having to change a tampon every 4 hours--especially if I'm traveling in a country where public restrooms tend not to have toilet paper! I think the mini pantyliners are a nice supplement when my flow is very heavy and I'm paranoid about leakage (although that never happens unless I was too rushed to insert and position it properly). To clean it, I generally use the Diva wash. (Posted on 3/7/14)

    10. WARNING Review by Eek
      Quality

I just had a horrifying and awful experience that I wish I'd been warned about before buying this product... I had been well on my way to loving the cup- no tampons, environmentally friendly, suitable comfort etc. However, as I could feel my cup begin to 'runneth over', I headed to the bathroom to empty it. When I reached for it, it was gone. It had migrated so high that I couldn't get a hold on it and nothing I did with my pelvic muscles was going to help the fact. I spent 20min, with tears streaming down my face, trying to coax it out. During the whole ordeal I couldn't help but picture my visit to the ER... It didn't come to that but this has made me think twice about Diva. (Posted on 2/25/14)

    11. Awesome! Review by Bombular
      Quality

First of all, I need to say that yes, there is a learning curve. If you're not comfortable with your own body... Get so, so you can use this product.

It saved my butt. Seriously. I work at a coffee shop, and while working my shift alone the other night, I got slammed by a rush that went on much longer than a tampon would have held up. At that moment, I knew I was never going back.

Also, for those of you who think it'll be grosser than a tampon: it's not. I would rather empty a diva cup 1000000000 times than take out a soaked tampon again. (Posted on 2/10/14)

    12. I don't understand why everyone loves this thing Review by No Thanks
      Quality

After hearing/reading so many great reviews, I finally bought myself a DivaCup. I used it for 1 cycle and I really don't think I'll ever use it again. What sounds more appealing (and less time consuming) to you: tampon out, new tampon in, or squatting, bearing down, pinching the cup out (the cup is not that small either), emptying it, washing it with the special soap, then re-inserting it (again with the squatting and the pinching of the cup)? You can't do that in public. And because it has to be taken out at least every 12 hours, you kind of have to plan to be home (or somewhere you can wash your cup in the sink) for a certain time. Oh, and then at the end of your cycle, you have to boil it in water for 10 minutes. Because I live with roommates, I have to plan it so that nobody else is around.

I had never really had problems with leaking in the past (tampon + panty liner have always worked fine for me), so maybe I don't appreciate it as much as others. But really, it is SO much more of a hassle than pads/tampons.

The ONLY time I would ever consider wearing the Cup again is if I wanted to go swimming on my period. (Posted on 2/9/14)

    13. Wow just wonderful Review by Firereika

I've had the product for two year's now and still love it! I admit that the first few times I wore it, it felt really odd but when I cut off the "handle" so it would ride lower, It became the best menstrual partner I could have ever asked for!! Thank you so much, Lunapads! (Posted on 1/7/14)

    14. If I could marry it, I would. And my partner would understand. Review by Bee
      Quality

I had the worst time with tampons for several years before I tried the Divacup. I had known of something who used one in high school and all my friends made fun of her, commenting on how 'gross' it was to collect period blood like that, so I never assumed Divacup was an option.

I used pads for many years because I was afraid of tampons breaking in me, or in general being uncomfortable (I never wanted to shove ANYTHING up there!) and I grew to hate them; the way I thought I could smell it, the way that they crinkled, they way they leaked, that weird chemical rash that I was getting (and I didn't realize it at the time, I thought I just had sensitive skin).

So I switched to tampons in my first year of university, which was awkward and painful and they leaked randomly. I was always on guard in case I was leaking, and I could feel the string rubbing. Eventually I developed some kind of pain after using tampons for several days straight. Then it became pain if I used more than one in a row. I was waking up about chemicals around that same time so I switched to natural organic cotton tampons and the pain was alleviated, but I was still plagued with the notion that a piece would be left behind inside me, or that I was leaking constantly, and why was that darn string rubbing me so wrong??

In a moment of passion, I bought the Divacup on my way home on day. And I immediately felt happier, lighter - and I hadn't even used it yet! My period came early that month, so I didn't get any practice working with it. Needless to say, there were a few 'accidents' in that first cycle...or two...

But now I have the hang of it, and I'm in love! I'm in love! I don't care who knows it!!! I tell everybody what an amazing product it is! No chemical rash, and even though it's wider than a tampon, it is so much more comfortable! I know you aren't supposed to leave them in for longer than twelve hours at a time, but honestly, there are days nearing the end of flow that I completely forget that it's in there. (I'm not being a cheesey commercial; I really do feel like twirling now!)

I'm saving on money, the environment, feminine wiping products (from cleaning up tampon leaks and pad impressions), no fear, total comfort, complete satisfaction. :)

If the Divacup had a behind, I would tell you that the sun shines out of it. (Posted on 10/10/13)

    15. No regrets Review by Sabrina
      Quality

I cannot explain how much I love the DivaCup. I've used it for 3 periods now and it's only gotten better as I've learn to use it. I thought for sure I would feel it or it would hurt as I can't stand tampons (I'm petite and very sensitive), but I don't notice it at all. All the gross feelings that come with menstruation are gone. I feel clean and fresh the whole way through and it's amazing. I agree with some of the other reviews, it is so weird to feel so passionately about the cup, but I can't help it!

Now, to be fair, it's not 100% fool-proof. When my period first starts, sometimes it's incredibly heavy and little leaks can happen if I don't empty the cup every few hours. But it doesn't happen often and is WORLDS better than dealing with pads. I feel like I have to put the cup in further than the directions recommend to prevent leaks and to make it more comfortable, otherwise the ridges at the bottom rub. Maybe I am just reading the directions wrong or maybe it's the way my body is. I suggest trying a few different ways until you figure out what works. I also trimmed the stem almost totally off and never have a problem removing it. I really don't think it could ever get stuck.

If you've been hesitating about buying it, don't. It's well worth the money and so much better than any diaper-y pad or painful tampon. (Posted on 9/20/13)

    16. Don't give up if DivaCup doesn't fit right, there are other options Review by Sara B
      Quality

DivaCup was my first menstrual cup. I liked it but found that both sizes didn't seem to fit me right.
In the beginning, I thought it was inexperience and admittedly there is a learning curve to using a cup (but then I remember there was one for using tampons and getting them to fit right too). When I would go for a walk, I could feel it hanging low. I trimmed the tab completely off. I bought the smaller size thinking that would help. It didn't.
I did some research on-line and found a site that reviewed many of the cups available and gave dimensions, etc. I saw that DivaCup seemed to be one of the biggest cups for sale. I decided to try Lunette. I got the larger size because of my age and was relatively happy with it, but I thought it could be better. I then bought the smaller size and am extremely pleased. A smaller size means it holds less volume but the smaller size just is more comfortable. Moral of the story: don't judge all menstrual cups based on your experience with The DivaCup. There are plenty of shapes and sizes out there. (Posted on 9/13/13)

    17. Love it Review by Mollie
      Quality

I've been a happy Diva Cup user for almost two years. I never used tampons prior to this, and there's a learning curve (wear back up pads/liners), but it's worth it.

Before getting the DivaCup, I read up on other people's experiences, and it seemed like many folks cut the stem. I decided to wait, try it a while, and make sure that's what I wanted. At first, I was afraid of putting the cup too far up, so the lower, longer stem irritated me. What I learned is that you definitely can't lose the cup, and if it's ever too high, bear down and the stem pops right out. Don't be afraid to put it higher up when you're inserting the cup. I never cut the stem, and I'm happy because it makes it easier to grab.

Fast forward to today. I had the joy of getting my period on triathlon day, and I was concerned that the stem would be lower and get in the way given pre-race bearing down inside a port-a-potty (also why I didn't want to try to adjust it). It was no issue, and I never even felt any part of the cup through the swimming, biking or running. I really love this thing. (Posted on 8/26/13)

    18. It's not just for hippies y'all! Review by NotAHippie
      Quality

Okay so before I start this review, I don't mean hippie in a negative way. I just think that products like this (Divacup and Lunapads) have a rep for only being for those who care about the environment. But I think this product should be more mainstream.

I am a hardcore girly girl, I spend ludicrous amounts of money on makeup, I bleach my hair and I don't always recycle as much as I should. (I should mention I am 17) I bought the Divacup because I have extremely heavy periods and I am tired of toting around 6 or 10 super plus tampons in my purse. Plus I am also a girl who loooooooves my sleep so at night my options are A wear a pad and have to deal with that diapery feeling and leaks, or B have to set an alarm so I can only get 8 hours sleep (on my days off I like to sleep 10 hours if I can, since I usually only get 6 on a work night) which majorly sucks! I also usually spend at lease $18 on organic tampons alone, not including pads or liners (so maybe I am a little bit of a hippie but I found that rayon tampons were giving my lady bits a bit of a rash) every 2 months so this will basically pay for itself in less than 6 months.

I do find that on my heaviest days I have to empty it every 3-4 hours to prevent leaks but that is because my period is REALLY heavy. But it is super easy, I just empty it and give it a wipe with TP when I'm at work and pop it back in then wash it when I get home. And at night I wear a lunapad as well so even when it fills up and starts to leak I can still continue to sleep and it's really no big deal. (My drugstore sells both lunapads and the divacup so I got a couple lunapads to try but I am doing a full order asap because I love them.)

I did find that I had a learning curve my first cycle, I did try putting it in a few times before my period started so I got used to it but it was still a little tricky. I use the push-down fold because I am quite small down there and I find it's easier to insert, the only thing is you have to make sure you get it open all the way when you use that fold, to do this I use my finger to push the side until I hear it pop open then run my finger around the divacup to make sure it is open all the way. I find taking it out can be a little painful but the blood doesn't bug me, to me it's no more gross that pulling out a soiled tampon.

I am also ordering a peri bottle because I think it will make public washrooms easier.

So overall I love the divacup, I love that I don't have to worry about having enough tampies to last me through the day, because as long as my divacup is in, I know that it doesn't matter how heavy my flow is, I just empty it more if needed. I also have found my lady bits feel a lot less dry and irritated because it works for any flow and doesn't dry me out. I am on my third cycle with it and I don't think I will go back to tampies.

Love you divacup! (Posted on 7/20/13)

I wish I knew about this sooner. I have been using the Diva cup for over a year and am so happy with it. I have NEVER had a leak and can go swimming... On heavy days I do need to empty it every 4-6 hours but I couldn't go that long with tampons and pads anyway. Night time is so much more comfortable. (Posted on 7/18/13)

I decided to try the Diva Cup because I was tired of having to worry about leaks at night, or set an alarm to wake myself up to change my tampon. This is the first period I have used it for and I am already convinced. The instructions are easy to follow and the cup itself is amazing. No leaks, extremely comfortable and such a relief! Every girl should have this amazing product! (Posted on 6/13/13)

    23. The easiest thing in the world! Review by marquessa
      Quality

I was surfing the web one day a couple of years ago looking for a more environmentally friendly option towards Aunt Flow (let's face it...quite a bit of landfills are overflowing with our old menstrual products) and found this site. I took the plunge and bought my first Diva cup, and am now trying to convert my entire family :)
Not only is it the best thing ever, but it's so easy! Change it in the morning, head out for the day, forget you're even on your period, and then come home and change it at night. I've only ever leaked once, and to be fair, I knew it was in wrong and knew I should have adjusted it, but I didn't (lesson learned!)
I've done half marathons with the Diva Cup in, I've swam, I've camped, I've done Zumba and Yoga and I've attended Boot Camp sessions with this thing in - still no leaks.
When I went to see a Naturopath for the first time earlier this year, one of her questions was "what products do you use for your monthly cycle" and I was proud to say "A Diva Cup". She was delighted to hear me say this, as she highly recommends them to all of her female clients.
I suggest this product to everybody out there who wants convenience, cost-efficiency and peace of mind.

And for those of you who are worried about sizing, I am over 30 and have never delivered a child, and a size 2 still fit me perfectly (I am 5'4", but I do have birthin' hips and am not petite)

PS: I was so happy to see so many positive reviews, and am glad so many other people out there love this product as much as I do! (Posted on 5/15/13)

    24. The best thing since sliced bread Review by Fiona
      Quality

I am so grateful I found out about the DivaCup at a young age. I think I'm on my third one and I am only 20! Albeit, the first few times I used it there was a bit of a messy situation, but once you get the hang of it there is nothing to worry about! I change it at school all the time and no one ever knows. The days of carrying around extra tampons are long behind me and I love not having to make sure I've remembered to bring a back up.

Also, I can use this for swimming, yoga, running, camping, anything where 'other' options may have caused some hassle (even with tampons you have to worry about that string!). Now I can see that there are plenty of fantastic reviews on this product, but honestly, wait no longer. Say good-bye to monthly (or bi-monthly) drugstore trips and throwing away countless disposables. Take control!

I never cut the stem and love backing this guy up with a lunapads pantyliner! As for cleaning it, I wash thoroughly every time I take it out (unless I'm in a public bathroom), and at the end of each cycle I clean it by placing it in a bowl and pouring boiling water over, allowing it to cool before putting it back in its pouch until next month. 25. Not worth it Review by butrfly
      Quality

I purchased the product 5 years ago thinking what a great concept in helping reduce landfill waste. It was difficult to adjust to having something awkwardly shaped in you but I managed and eventually felt a sense of pride/relief knowing that I didn’t have to spend so much money on pads. Then a year passed and I started noticing that the Divacup was becoming more and more of a hassle. As my period started to change and become slightly irregular so did the protection of the Divacup. During the months that my period was light and liquidy, the Divacup worked perfectly; for the heavier months with a gooier texture the Divacup was useless. No matter how many times I followed the instructions and comments in adjusting the cup, it still did absolutely nothing (I had to start wearing pads while on the Divacup). I even went as far as buying a new one (yes the appropriate size for a young adult), and still had to deal with the same problem every month.

I’ve given Divacup so many chances over the years hoping that maybe this time it would work and every time it has failed me. It’s been frustrating having to go to the washroom so often in the day just to make sure it is not leaking.

So for those of you who have similar periods to me (or heavier/more irregular) DON’T EVEN BOTHER. It is a waste of money (unless you want to buy a new one every friggen year) and you’ll always be wondering (and sometimes even feeling) is my period leaking through? Stick to ecofriendly pads.

    26. This is honestly life-changing. Review by Vicki
      Quality

I've been using my DivaCup for almost five years now, and it's probably one of the greatest discoveries of my young life. I'm on this site buying a new one, as my trusty old cup is unfortunately finally getting old and needing replacing. This is the best thing you can have if you're going traveling and aren't into carrying a bunch of pads and tampons around in your bag all the time. I've also recommended it to a friend who needed a period solution for when she did marathons and triathlons and she loves it.
It might sound a bit cheesy, but I think it's really important for women to get familiar with their bodies and their menstrual cycles, and using this cup is a great way to get started getting familiar with your lady parts and how your flow changes throughout your cycle. I've tried another menstrual cup (I can't remember the name, but it's made of brown rubber and doesn't have the grips on the stem, which are surprisingly important) which wasn't as leak-proof as this one. On heavy days, I'll use a liner and be set the entire day without having to worry about needing to find a toilet to change my tampon throughout the day.
It's saved me tons of money (tampons are so expensive!) and trouble/time washing sheets, underwear, and other junk. There's also a great online community that'll help you if you have some anxiety when you're getting started. Just keep an open mind and it'll change your life, promise. (Posted on 3/24/13)

    27. What took me so long!!!! Review by Stephanie
      Quality

I had been mulling over purchasing a menstrual cup for the longest time. I researched them all. I was using the softcup, but kept experiencing serious leakage, I'd even use a tampon when I worked out because I didn't trust the softcup one bit. So when I started feeling a little bloated this month I knew I didn't want to waste any more money on softcups. I went to whole foods and purchased the Diva Cup. OMG!!! Best decision of my LIFE! I feel like a regular person while I'm on my period. No awkward sleeping positions, no worries about leaking the entire contents of the cup everywhere... I do a rigorous bootcamp style workout 3 days a week and run 3 days a week as well. I nervously tried my Diva Cup on Monday and started thinking I felt leakage, I got home NOTHING! The thing stayed put during 75 burpees, 150 situps and bungee cord sprints with a partner and more. My life has officially changed. I'm buying one for my sister to try on her next cycle... I had to trim the stem because it did start irritating me while I sat, but now that it's gone I can't even feel the cup at all.

I can't be happier that I bought one for myself, No more pads, no more tampons, no more waste!!! Diva cups for the rest of my life!!! (Posted on 3/19/13)

I thought about getting a Diva Cup for a long time and finally got past my nervousness and purchased one four months ago. Even though I'm 36 and haven't had children, I chose the smaller size... I just had a feeling it would work for me and it does. During the first month, I had some leaks and uncomfortable times. Still, I felt that I missed out on something great, the best thing ever really, by not getting a Diva Cup sooner. I've never felt so good about having my period. Regarding the leaks, it turned out that I hadn't been inserting or removing the cup properly. The second month, I read the instructions and followed them exactly. Success! The third month, no problems at all, especially because on my medium to heavy flow days, I empty the cup three times a day instead of just twice. Now I'm confident enough to even go without a pantiliner. I highly recommend the Diva Cup. (Posted on 3/9/13)

      Quality

I've been thinking about buying The Diva Cup for a year now and I finally bought it! I didn't want to buy the cup, because some reviews said the cup leaked and the stem was irritating.

So far NO LEAKS and I've barely noticed the stem!

I've only ever had to take the cup out at home so I like to use a pair of reusable rubber gloves for the process, because it can be messy (depending on your flow) I keep the gloves in a pouch in my bathroom and when I need to take the cup out every 12 hours I just put my gloves on and do the deal. It's great!

I have experience with tampons so I am used to things going in my vagina so insertion was not that big of a deal. I expected removal to be horrible, but to my pleasant surprise it was fine! JUST FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!

I don't think I'll ever use tampons again.

    30. LOVE IT! Review by Sunshine
      Quality

I just bought the diva cup 2 and have been using it for a few days. I'm not sure I really needed the larger size, but I don't have much trouble getting it in. I am aware that it's there and can feel it more than I would feel a super tampon, but I have extremely heavy periods and this does a much better job than any super tampon I've ever used. I think I'm a little paranoid about it leaking just because I'm trying it for the first time, and I wear a liner or pad just in case. Not a single drop has made it to the liner, so I LOVE it. I was always in constant fear of tampons leaking because my flow would change so often that it would suddenly seem like I didn't even have a tampon in. So for all the other great reasons stated and that I don't have to worry about leaks, I don't mind a little discomfort, it's totally worth it. I figure it's going to take a little time to get used to anyway, it's awkward at first but as I said def. worth it. If after a few periods it's still uncomfortable I'll probably try the smaller size. Okay, don't laugh, but I am a "closet prepper". I found DivaCup while doing some research after I started thinking about what to do about my TOM. I really didn't relish stockpiling tampons! I initially found information on washable pads. Then I found DivaCup and I bought that instead. I had never heard of these things until last week. Anyway, I had hoped to practice with it before I needed it, but my cycle started yesterday before I got the chance to. I am on day two of using it and still not sure I'm getting it in the correct position, but I can already see how this is going to be a life changer! All "prepping" thoughts aside, I wish I had found this years ago! And if I find out any of my girlfriends have been using this for awhile and haven't told me about it, I'm going to be really ticked! Thanks DivaCup! (Posted on 2/15/13)

    32. 10 reasons I love Diva Cup! Review by Stephanie
      Quality

      1) No need to 'reposition' or 'adjust' like tampons, which slip and fall after they've gotten bloated and heavy. Diva Cup stays in place.
      2) No little bits of cotton left behind by tampons.
      3) No adhesive residue or glue on panties or thighs.
      4) NO vaginal drying! Diva Cup catches your period rather than sucking your natural moisture like a tampon does.
      5) No leaks; insert it securely and it catches all until you empty it. (Unlike a tampon, which absorbs up to a certain point and then gives up.)
      6) Soo much easier to travel with...one cute little pink pouch in my purse or backpack so it's there when I need it, vs. scrambling to find a place that sells a bulky box of pads or tampons.
      7) Soo much easier on my wallet. My first cup for $35 bucks lasted years, whereas acceptable-quality tampons used to cost me ~ $10 each month!!
      8) No mess in my bathroom trash bin.
      9) For those who might visit nude beaches in summer (ahem, just as an example), no telltale dangling strings. :)
      10) And the biggest and best reason: It saves all that landfill waste.

    33. tampons never worked, but this does! Review by Beeps
      Quality

I've always hated having my period in the summer. It was so hard to make excuses for not being able to swim! I only used disposable pads, I tried tampons quite a few times, but could never get them in as it was too painful for me. A year and a half ago I thought I would finally try the Diva Cup. I really didn't think it would work, but I just had to try. I read all the reviews I could find, and took the plunge. It took me a LONG time to get used to. Like I said, I couldn't insert a tampon. So first I practiced inserting my finger while relaxed in the tub. Once I could do that no problem, I tried the Diva Cup. It was very painful at first, but I just took a break and tried again and again. I think it took me three periods before I was comfortable with it. I was so happy that I couldn't even feel it! No more yucky pads, no more rashes from the chemicals! Now I can go swimming any time! I do have a little leaking sometimes, mostly just for the first day or two of my period. I get a rash from disposable pantyliners, so I just bought some cloth ones. So far they are great! Also, sometimes I am quite sore the first day, and inserting the cup is not too comfortable, so I think I will also get a few cloth pads for the first day. Some months are no problem, though. All in all, I am really pleased with this product! I recommend it to everyone who reads this! Oh, and I have the size 1, and am 21 years old. (Posted on 1/28/13)

    35. So Great! Review by KT
      Quality

I LOVE this for so many reasons...saves the environment, saves $$ on tampons, SAFER than tampons, can be worn longer..the list goes on. However, this is not for the faint of heart. If you're not comfortable with blood or sticking things up there then this probably isn't for you as it can get messy at some points. However, I feel that it's more than worth it for the reasons I listed previously. Its honestly so freeing not having to pack a bunch of tampons for the day when I go to work and not having to worry about remembering to change my tampon every 5 hrs or worrying that I'm going to get TSS. If you can wear super tampons without feeling them then you probably won't be able to feel this either. I highly recommend it! (Posted on 1/17/13)

I love my diva-cup! I no longer even give a second thought to my periods, the diva cup is just so easy, it never leaks, and it's can't-even-feel-it comfortable! (Posted on 1/6/13)

    37. DON'T BE INTIMIDATED!! Review by Rebecca
      Quality

Seriously, ladies. I was once one of you who swore by tampons, grossed out by pads, and honestly couldn't understand the appeal of "collecting" period blood. It was a slow transition to the Diva Cup world, but I cannot rave about it enough. It's very strange to suddenly have become so passionate about something like this.

First of all, give yourself two or three months to get used to a Diva Cup and THEN decide if you like it. It won't be perfect, and you will be messy, but it is so so so so worth it! I cannot stress that enough. Besides, it's already paid for itself by the end of your trial period(s) (pun intended). What's to lose?

Second, you may tell yourself that it's more disgusting than tampons, but it honestly isn't. Tampons drip when you take them out, dangle precariously as you're fishing desperately for toilet paper, and then STILL look disgusting in your trashcan. With Diva Cup, no one even knows you're on your period.

Third, everyone swears that "you can't even feel tampons"! And I was one of those people, but you don't understand how uncomfortable tampons actually are until you get a Diva Cup. That sucker doesn't fall out and doesn't move around the way a tampon does. Sometimes I forget I'm on my period at all (crazy, but it happens. For a brief few minutes...)

Fourth, if it leaks, then nine times out of ten you've positioned it wrong. I find that turning it isn't enough. Your Diva Cup can be fully open without being situated over your cervix. This is gross, but I occasionally have to run my finger all the way around the rim to feel if it's in the right place. Once it is, I have zero leaks. Unless it stays in too long on a heavy day...

Fifth, the idea of changing it in a public restroom may make you cringe, but it honestly doesn't come up often. Because you can wear the cup for 12 hours, you're more likely to change it in the morning before you leave your house and then not need to touch it until you're home for the night. I've had my Diva Cup for six months and I've changed it in a public restroom once. Because I was traveling. And you know what? Not a big deal. Carry some wetwipes! Lord knows you carry a billion other things in your purse.

Sixth, if you're reading these reviews, then you're already mostly decided. Take the plunge, and buy your cup. I feel the need to tell every woman I know about the wonders of this product. So now I'm telling you!

Have you ever heard a woman complain about a Diva Cup?
      Me neither. (Posted on 12/12/12)

    38. Great! Review by A
      Quality

I've been using the Diva Cup for a year now. I was sitting down thinking about how much I hate tampons and I couldn't believe with all the technological advances we live around that I (and most women) were still using them. Then I remembered reading about an eco-friendly period once and found the site!
I love it! Not only is it comfortable, but I never have to worry about not having tampons or money to buy them. The best part and what I hadn't planned on- how much money I save now! If you think it looks expensive you should calculate what you spend on pads and tampons. It's amazingly worth it. The only critiques I've read on here are from people who got the size 2. I think probably unless you really think you won't hold the size 1, I would go with it.
I don't ever wake up anymore to having bled through my pjs and sheets. I don't get dry and irritated from tampons. I use the luna panties too which are also great, especially for the first and last day. Anyway this is long, but it truly is life-changing and I'll never go back. I'm only 22 so that's going to be a lot of tampons saved. (Posted on 12/11/12)

    39. Disappointed Review by Dani
      Quality

I was very excited to learn that there was a product such as the Diva Cup. I really wanted to make the switch for environmental reasons, to prevent exposure from chemicals and to save money. Since I was 40 years old, the sales person felt I needed the larger one even though I am very petite and have never had children. When I got it home I was completely disappointed at how large it was. I tried several times to insert it but have never been able to use it. It was expensive and a waste if money. There needs to be a better way to help women determine the size of the cup before buying it. After seeing it, unless a woman is very large/big I just don't see this as fitting or being comfortable. Someone in their review mentioned irritation from the stem. I've read that turning the cup inside out helps. It makes the cup shorter. Love my Diva cup! Clogged holes seem a problem but have found a good washing helps. (Posted on 11/9/12)

The cup is comfortable to wear, I did not even have to trim off the stem. It does not leak at all (to be honest, i expected to...) ! Inserting it and taking it out could not be simpler, I didn't really have to practice it at all. And I find the whole experience of not having to throw away tons of garbage after my period highly rewarding. So, I instantly recommended the cup to my sister and I hope more women will green their periods in the future! And thank you lunapads for the kindness that was sent to me along with the product :) (Posted on 11/8/12)

      Quality

I have been using the Diva Cup for about 3 years now. It is comfortable and makes that time of the month less annoying. There are times when I forget that I am getting my period. I no longer dread it, even in the summer when I live in a swimsuit and wear a lot of light colors. I just ordered a second Diva Cup to keep in my purse. The past two months it came a bit earlier than expected and I had to use a tampon until I got home, forgetting how dry and painful they make me feel. UGH!!! I have a 7 year old daughter and I will for sure be introducing her to the Diva Cup when the time comes for her. I will NEVER not use it. (Especially since I will now have a second to keep with me for the Surprises that I get.) Amazing! I am glad I tried it a few years back. Best thing I ever did.

    43. I wish it would not hurt Review by Kot Matroskin
      Quality

I have tried using the Diva Cup for the course of 3 periods. I think this is a fair trial before writing the review. I love the idea, I'm all about green, I'm not grossed out, but .... but, I only wish it would not hurt me. During the course of trial I have successively cut the stem shorter and shorter until I trimmed it at all (as did one of the readers) in the last hopeful attempt. Unfortunately, the ridges at the bottom of the cup continued hurting me. Maybe the cup is too large (I'm quite petite but I got size 2 because I'm 30 and I have delivered a child), but I am not testing this hypothesis for another 40 dollars. After trying the "proper" position, I have also tried in vain putting it higher and lower, tilt it this way and other way (just trying to adjust to my body). Anyway, perhaps I'm too sensitive. I've always used pads, I've tried using tampons couple of times, but the sheer discomfort has turned me down from that once and for all. Maybe there should be a suggestion in description of the product that ladies who did not strike a relationship with tampons may not be as successful with the cup. So right now I'm using Luna pads at home as a change from conventional pads and waiting for Luna pads to make wings leakproof and then I will probably switch to cloth pads. :) (Posted on 10/31/12)

I've been using the diva cup for 2 years now & love it! After watching a video about the leftover fibers after using tampons I was ready to try something different.
They work great. I rarely have any leakage, during the day and over night, & when I do its VERY minimal (I usually just wear black undies for the week just in case).
I have a few times had a hard time retrieving it... I think it has to do with my long natural nails though =/ (Posted on 9/27/12)

    45. All tampons are officially evicted from my purse! Review by Rin
      Quality

I'd been thinking about getting a Diva Cup for a long time, but for some reason could never be bothered to order one. I've never been completely satisfied with disposable pads and tampons - the former is just all kinds of awkward-feeling and the latter dries me out. Recently I finally took the plunge and got myself a cup.

Now I'm kicking myself for waiting so long! I feel like I'm not even having my period. I'm aware of the cup's presence, but it's still more comfortable than a tampon, and I don't feel dried-out at all. My panties, however, are pristine! Not a drop of blood! About an hour after I first inserted the cup, I was confident enough to take off the pad I'd been using as backup, and it's so good not to have that abrasive thing between my legs. Undoubtedly, the Diva Cup has led to the most comfortable period in history!

I'm recommending it to all my friends, and am already starry-eyed realizing how much money I'm going to save every year! Good bye, disposables! You won't be missed! (Posted on 9/25/12)

    46. Fantastic for biking with! Review by Heather
      Quality

I have never had a heavy or uncomfortable period but I do a lot of biking and pads don't work with all the sweat and friction and due to my lighter flow tampons have always been drying and generally just uncomfortable. For so long I figured that because I do have a light period the cup wasn't right for me but I finally decided to try it out and wow am I hooked after just 2 days.

Day 1 I biked in an event that goes from Vancouver to Whistler, 122kms. I was nervous to try to something new during such an event but decided it was better than dealing with any alternatives (fyi you're not supposed to wear underwear with padded biking shorts, they're not designed for it). Sure it took me a few minutes to figure out how to insert the cup but once it was in and I was on my bike I forgot all about it. Along the ride the rest stops were all porta potties and wow was I grateful to not be dealing with tampons in there. 6 hours later I was done my ride and so happy that I didn't have to worry about the cup for another 6 hours that even though my legs were tired I felt like going dancing :)
Day 2 the cup was already easier to insert and again I just forgot about it for the entire day, even while swimming. I can't believe it really is that easy and comfortable. I have no idea why I didn't listen to all the reviewers before me and just tried this product out ages ago! (Posted on 9/10/12)

I have been using the diva cup for about 3 years now. I love it. I work long hours and hate using tampons. I work in a jail and it is hard to be discreet when you work mostly with men. 48. New Diva Girl and Learning to Love It Review by Danika
      Quality

      Here's my story:

I'm a tough cookie, except when it comes to my lady parts, I get squeamish. When I was in my teens, I used pads exclusively. As I got older (early 20s), I slowly transtitioned to using tampons. Recently (mid 20s), I became interested in supporting Lunapads (awesome canadian company!!!), and immediately ordered some pads. It turns out that the soaking and washing was a little much for me. I called customer service and they suggested that I try a Diva Cup and some cloth pantyliners instead. I took the plunge.

I'm on my first Diva period and it has definitely required a learning curve. I'm having an easy time with insertion, but a more difficult (but not at all painful) time learning to remove it.

That said, I love the comfort of the silicone - it warms to my body, fits well and feels soooo much cleaner and less drying than tampons.

Once I get use to it, I'm sure this is going to be my #1 go-to period product. I'd highly recommend it to friends/family. (Posted on 9/6/12)

    49. WAY more convenient and comfortable than tampons--and kind of fascinating : ) Review by From "Cup-Curious" to Convert
      Quality

I mulled this purchase over for a long time before taking the plunge: Would it be comfortable? Would it be gross? Is silicone OK to have in my body that long? Will I be able to insert and remove it without panicking? Is it really better for the environment to use a product that I presume will take a lot longer to break down than my organic cotton tampons? How do I know I'm ordering the right size?

I was thrilled to find that, for me, the insertion process was pretty darned easy. (I'm 32 and have NOT had kids; I purchased the size 2 or B--whatever the slightly larger one is called.) For removal, I took the advice of other reviewers to grip the stem with a little toilet paper to help remove it. That did take a little more care not to spill, but it's been pretty easy, too. It IS a little startling initially to see all that menstrual fluid poured out at once into the toilet--but it's also kind of fascinating and educational.

The cup is SO CONVENIENT, since you can safely leave it in for 12 hours. For long or busy work days, for travel (GREAT FOR TRAVEL!), for sleep, for any time I'm a house guest, the Diva Cup is FANTASTIC. I've run, biked, danced, and done yoga with it. I could feel it while biking, but it's been comfortable and reliable in all settings.

I have what I believe to be an awfully heavy flow the first two days of my period; I have had to change even an ultra-absorbent tampon w/in a couple hours of insertion. I'd regularly have spotting on my underwear. With the Diva Cup, though, I have never had a leak, even on my heaviest days. And I don't have to worry about the extra TSS risk that comes with using a tampon with too high an absorbency on my lighter days.

I recently left my Diva Cup at home while traveling (BAD PLANNING!) and had to buy tampons again. Having used the Diva Cup, I was keenly aware of how incredibly drying and uncomfortable tampons are and how little peace of mind they offer me. (TMI alert: I also had an awful, miserable experience of attempting vaginal sex after removing a tampon, and it was AWFUL. Seriously. Dryness and discomfort are serious mood-killers. Ugh!)

Also, and this is my nerdiness talking, I love the measurements on the Diva Cup that indicate how much it's holding. That--like checking out the changes in the menstrual fluid over the course of the period--is weirdly, grossly fascinating.

I wash the cup with Diva Wash during my period and boil it afterwards. Has worked great thus far. So happy to have switched. (Posted on 8/22/12)

Love. I am head-over-heels after only 3 days. I have been thinking about the Diva Cup for a few months but I kept putting it off (mainly I would forget and then my period would show up). Then, I had had enough! I was caught at the office with an empty purse- NOT COOL. I had to do the old toilet paper pad and run out to the car for more supplies. That was it! When I got back into the office I ordered my Diva Cup. The first day had some problems with getting it in and being able to feel it. I trimmed a little off the stem and then it was PERFECT. I love not having to worry about leaks and having to refill the purse. I wish I had not delayed and I wish I had heard about this sooner!!!!! LOVE! (Posted on 8/22/12)

    51. The DivaCup has changed my life! Review by GillianMS
      Quality

I never thought I'd be so excited for a period product in my life, or talk about the product with every female I know! I'm only on day 2 of my period using the DivaCup and already I'm a changed person.

I'm a fairly environmentally-conscious individual and had never heard of this product before seeing an advertised offering through 'ethicaldeal'. After reading about and researching the product, I figured I had nothing to lose and made my purchase. I was a bit apprehensive about its true level of comfort and ease of inserting/removing/emptying, however everything people have said is true! I honestly can't feel it once it's inserted and removing/emptying it is easy, clean and convenient. I just wish I had been introduced to it when I first got my period as a teenager...but I am making it my mission to tell as many people as possible about this incredible product : )" (Posted on 6/29/12)

    52. I'll NEVER go back! Review by Liv
      Quality

I bought the cup just after my last cycle and I have just ended this months cycle. The difference in those two months is glaring! Last month (as usual) my period lasted 9 days with heavy cramps (so bad usually I feel sick to my stomach) and profuse bleeding. This month my period was 5 days and very very mild spotting on the 6th day!! I cannot believe it!! 5 days and the cramps were so diminished I barely needed any pain reliever. The only down side was that I had some trouble getting it seated perfectly about half the time but given the payoffs I am in no way complaining and i would recommend the cup to ANY woman who will stand still long enough. I have read plenty about how disposable products make your cycles worse (not to mention the fact that they contribute to our already excessive waste) but I had no idea the change would be this drastic. I have suffered extreme bleeding and horrible pain since my first period and i would give one of the diva cups to every woman if I was able. I could go on for days on how in love I am with this product. If you are considering buying a cup even just a little...BUY IT! You won't regret it. (Posted on 6/23/12)

    53. I'm only sorry I didn't know about it 15 years ago. Review by B.
      Quality

I love love love love love my divacup and recommend it to all my friends. I started using one 5+ years ago and have never looked back. (There was a minor learning curve and it took me 2 or maybe 3 periods to fully get the hang of it.) Periods are never fun but mine is so much less of a pain and inconvenience than it used to be--no longer do I have to choose between gross, bulky, wet pads or dry, uncomfortable (and frequently leaky) tampons full of bleached cotton made by companies that don't give a crap about women or our health. And of course I love that I'm saving money and helping the environment.

I can wear whatever underwear I feel like and be confident that there won't be any leakage or overflow. I practically forget I'm on my period. Another great thing about the Divacup is that you can wear it on days when you THINK your period is just about to start but aren't sure and don't want to get caught unawares. No way can you do that with tampons! (Posted on 5/14/12)

    54. IN-CRED-IB-LE!!! Review by sailormoonaddict
      Quality

Ok I'd like to start by putting out there that I am a teen, and will be starting highschool very, very soon! I have an EXTREMELY heavy flow and I do not believe in using birth control to..well..control it. I also do not like tampons. I was fine with them at first, (I have no problem with my body) but I hated taking them out, even with my heavy flow they felt drying.

Then I heard about the DivaCUp and begged my mom to get it for me. She finally did and I thought I knew how to put it in perfectly and all, but lemme tell you, I was quite dissapointed when it hurt like heck to get it in. I tried again and again but it wouldnt go all the way in.

Then I had a break through! I got it in and knew it would be a starting friendship with my period. I'm so glad I have it and I'm so glad I'm not destroying our beautiful Earth!

      Thank you Lunapads girls!

And to all you thinking about getting it, Please do! Think of all the good you are doing!
And don't let the thought of it hurting me ruin your descision. Everyone is different and I'm sure I wasn't doing something right, and it might have something to do with me being a virgin also.

    55. WONDERFUL product Review by Annie
      Quality

I have been using my Cup for over 2 years now, and I cannot over-stress how much I enjoy it. I have bought it for friends and family; and it's a great go-to gift for bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays, etc.

It is extremely convenient--pop it in in the morning and forget about it until the evening. There's no absorption, so there is no issue with dryness during insertion or removal.

My flow varies, and at first I was worried about my cup overflowing--but it lasts the day even on my heaviest days.

Cleaning the cup is a breeze--I just wash it out while using it, then boil after my menses.

I cannot believe I used tampons.

I will buy one for any future daughter I may have. (Posted on 5/1/12)

    57. I am a Diva! Review by lolcat
      Quality

I read about the DivaCup a couple years ago and was admittedly kind of weirded out by the concept of putting a cup in my vagina. I quickly forgot about it until my environmentalist friend learned about menstrual cups at a green convention and mentioned it to me.
I started looking at the DivaCup again last week and was quickly converted. My period started this week and I really wanted one. On my second day I was at school and I had the mortifying experience of bleeding through my super tampon and light pad and onto my jeans in 2 hours, so I went ahead and bought one from London Drugs, on sale for $34.99 with the DivaWash for $7.99.
I was super excited and used it immediately when I got home. It was really easy! It took a little time but I got it in right the first time (with my foot on the tub edge) and I couldn't feel it at all, including the stem. Later I did cut the stem a little because I could feel it in certain positions (eg. lying down on my side). I slept with it in overnight and it was great waking up knowing I hadn't bled through anything during the night. Taking the DivaCup out was difficult, but I'm thinking it'll take some practice. After washing it I unfortunately did not reinsert it correctly and it leaked a little bit. I was in a public washroom but I figured I should just reinsert it completely and afterwards it was completely fine for the rest of the day.
It does take time to get used to and it'll probably take me a couple cycles to get used to the "wtf I have a cup in my vagina" mentality. Oh here's a tip: if you put the DivaCup in and squeeze your vaginal muscles and you feel air wheezing out, go back and check the seal. That's how I discovered I didn't have it in correctly. Also, bowel movements may push the stem out a little, and it's kind of freaky but the cup itself doesn't come out.
This is a really awesome product! For me, it wasn't as revolutionary as I can see it was for other reviewers, probably because I'm generally okay with the feeling of tampons. After buying the DivaCup though, I won't go back! I really like that it is good for the environment, healthier and, since I'm a student, cost-efficient as well. And that moldy tampon thing freaks me out too much.
I plan on letting my mother know about the DivaCup. She's a little conservative about putting things up there, but her periods are so bad that she's actually looking forward to menopause, so I'm thinking she might like this :) (Posted on 4/15/12)

    58. Seriously life-changing Review by Maria
      Quality

I have to admit, I was too squeamish for a long time before finally deciding to give this a go (the moldy tampon scare totally pushed me over the edge). I really wasn't keen on handling my own menstrual blood, but when I started reading about how much healthier this is for you (and how a tampon absorbs all your vaginal moisture and messes up your pH) I finally caved. I'm 29, so technically I should have gone for size 2, but I'm very glad I went with 1. It's absolutely leak-proof, and on my heaviest day (which would mean a tampon change every 1.5 hours, since I frequently have clots that render a tampon next to useless) I had worry-free protection. AMAZING. It's not the most comfortable thing to remove, but that'll come with practice, and I cut the stem COMPLETELY off. I'm not scared of sticking my hand in my vag, and the stem was irritating my inner labia too much. Now? Can't feel it and it's the best thing in the world. I'm already recommending it to all my friends! (Posted on 4/11/12)

    59. Basically great, but still a little uncomfortable Review by Like it but...
      Quality

Based on the fact that nearly everyone says the Diva Cup can't be felt when inserted properly, I have to assume that it must be me. I have attempted to use the cup through several cycles, only to have to remove it after a few hours at most. The cup itself cannot be felt much, and I don't think it is really the problem. For me, it's the stem! I've cut it down to the minimum recommended length, which helped a little, and then under duress went ahead and cut it some more today. So far, it is the most comfortable I have experienced yet. I want this to work, I really do. On the positive side, there are no leaks to be found. I love the confidence of knowing that even on my heaviest flow days I don't have to constantly worry about leaks; what liberation! I love the spirit and the intent of the Diva Cup, and I love the exacting safety and quality standards. There are no worries about hidden mold or God knows what other horrors lurking in my Diva Cup. If I can just get the comfort issue ironed out it will be every bit as wonderful as everyone else experiences! I am thinking that if this latest trim doesn't do it, one more trim of the stem will. :-) (Posted on 4/2/12)

    60. Worthwhile and Rewarding Review by Edie
      Quality

The Diva Cup is one of the most worthwhile and rewarding products I own, up there with my iPhone. I love it. There's no going back. I was caught without it for a long weekend last month and almost cried. Seriously, ladies. If you're not using it, you're wasting your money and enduring unnecessary discomfort. I always wore a pad with a tampon in case of leaks or messiness, but I don't have to do that with the Diva Cup. I forget it's there, it's easy to use, and I'm saving money on tampons that are uncomfortable, unhealthy (stuffing bleached cotton up there can't be good), and sold by multi-national corporations that I don't want to support. This is better in every way! Makes my period orders of magnitude less annoying (Posted on 3/6/12)

    62. Great for Yoga + Lunapanties Recommendation Review by Martha W.
      Quality

This is, without any doubt, the MOST AMAZING piece of technology ever invented for periods. I'm now buying my 2nd DivaCup, so that I can keep it one at home, and one in my travel bag, just in case. The cup makes Bikram yoga (never easy) doable with your period: never any mess, leak, discomfort or (how awful!) stray String escaping the shorts. Never. Ever.

PS: the lined undies are also perfect for post-Bikram dressing...the sweating (for me) continues for, sometimes, a half hour after the class. These are comfy and absorbent (I guess my point is they are not just for periods). (Posted on 3/6/12)

    63. Liberating Review by Erin
      Quality

I recommend the Diva Cup to all my friends. It's the most liberating feeling to walk past the feminine hygiene aisles at the supermarket and not need any of it! I think that it's very important for women to have a more personal relationship with their cycles and the DIva Cup allows that. Thanks! (Posted on 3/6/12)

    64. I love it! Review by Trynn
      Quality

I really love my new cup. I've only used it for 2 cycles, but I don't think I'll go back to using tampons. I was having some issues that I thought tampons might be making worse, but I can't use pads. I was browsing my local health food store and found the cup, and decided to give it a try.

I thought it would be just as good as tampons, but I actually think it is better. Tampons always seem to leak for me, but the cup never does. Also, I don't have to worry about whether or not I've got enough supplies with me because I have all that I need already in me and only have to empty it once every 12 hours, meaning I usually don't have to do so in a public restroom.

The only thing I would change about it is the stem. I never used it anyway, and it was bothering me, so I cut it off with a razor blade.

I would definitely recommend the cup to anybody. (Posted on 2/9/12)

      Quality

So, I read the reviews, and despite never being comfortable with tampons, decided to give the DivaCup an honest try.... I'm only sorry I waited so long!! This is wonderful, so much easier to use than a tampon with none of the dry, scratchy side effects. And it's much more pleasant than bulky pads which would irritate my skin down there after 2 or 3 days. I was anticipating having a difficult time getting it into position correctly, but I was able to get it on the first try - I can't even feel that it's there! And the best part, not a single leak, not one drop. Awesome amazing product - I'm ordering one to send to my sister right now!!! Thanks DivaCup, such a liberating and environmentally conscientious product, I'll be converting every woman I know :) (Posted on 1/3/12)

    68. I Look Forward to My Period. Review by Madeline
      Quality

Since I'm a teenager, I go to school 5 days a week, for 7 hours. Periods are annoying. At our school, if you go to the bathroom with a purse, your backpack, a bag, anything, every boy will assume you're on your period-whether you are or are not. I tried tampons- no matter what, I just could NOT get them in. Then, when I finally did, taking them out (every single time) was extremely painful, and they would dry me out. So tampons were okay...kind of, until I realized that tampons don't actually work for 8 hours (most anyway). Most last 4-6. So I would have to change at one point or another. I don't care if any girl or boy knows I'm on my period-but the kids at my school taunt you for a natural process every woman goes through. So then I heard about the DivaCup. What's this? It SAVES me and my mom money? I get to keep it in for 12 HOURS? This is ingenious! I had heard about the learning curve of getting it in, taking 1-2 cycles, so I thought it would be really difficult since it was hard just to get a tampon in. But I was wrong, it took me about a day or two to really get the hang of it. It was so simple and easy, I was thrilled. I could wear it to bed-no leaks. Wear it a whole school day-no leaks. On the go, for 12 hours even!-no leaks! Thank you to the makers of the DivaCup, so I can enjoy my period! And with LunaBalm to help cramps, nothing can stop me! Thank you Mother Nature, and Aunt Flo! I actually like you now. (Posted on 1/1/12)

    71. Day Hike and a Road Trip Review by Jessica
      Quality

I heard about the DivaCup a couple years ago from a relative, and like many, set the idea aside, saying, "I hate using tampons, so this is definitely not for me."

Having become more and more environmentally aware, I started feeling more and more guilty as I saw how much waste I was producing on a monthly basis. How could I, in good conscience, continue in this manner when I knew of an alternative? After discussing it with a few friends, who swore they wouldn't try it unless I did, I purchased my DivaCup on the spot.

      What a life-changing experience.

It has been six months, and I have not experienced a single leak since switching to the cup. A friend and I had been planning a serious hike, and that event fell on one of my heavy days. With the DivaCup, this wasn't a problem. With a pad or tampon, I would have needed to carry the soiled items with me, and I would most definitely have experienced a leak with a pad. With the cup, I didn't need to bother with it until I got home that evening.

A month later, another friend and I took a road trip across the country, and my period started the very morning we set off! As a teen, I went on many road trips with my family, and a couple of them were joined by my period. Using pads, I remember how incredibly uncomfortable those days could be. Using the DivaCup, my period did not cross my mind while we were on the road. I took care of it during my morning routine, cleaned it in the shower at night, and that was all the attention it needed from me.

As an added bonus, there is no risk in using the cup on questionable days. With pads, you still need to start afresh after time has rumpled the product, even if your period hasn't started. With tampons, I felt as though my insides were being torn if I used one on a questionable day. With the cup, it's as easy to use on a q-day as any other.

BOTTOM LINE: I wish I had listened to my relative sooner, and I hope I can convince more women to make the switch. (Posted on 12/29/11)

      Quality

I've had the DivaCup for almost eight years now. Yes, the same one. It still works perfectly, cleans up great, and is barely discolored from years of use. I got it as a sophomore in high school and never looked back. It took a little bit of practice to make sure that it sealed correctly when I first started using it, but once I got the hang of it (which didn't take more than one period) it's the best decision I've ever made for down there. I can't express enough how much of a fantastic option it is! (Posted on 11/30/11)

    74. Garbage is disgusting. Blood is natural. Review by Kuribo
      Quality

There's something about water that makes your period seem so much cleaner. Using the DivaCup, my experience has shifted from using tampons, having to wrap used ones up in toilet paper (trying not to drop the bloody mess in the process) and hope whatever bathroom I'm in has a convenient, private trash can, to removing the DivaCup in the shower, rinsing the blood down the drain and cleaning the cup and myself at the same time. Having my period is incorporated into my morning shower routine as another part of self-care. In the evenings when I'm taking a shower, it's not quite as convenient to empty the cup and waddle over to the sink to rinse it, but at least I can usually wait until I'm home because the cup holds so much more than tampons. It feels more like a personal tool, an accessory--like how a pair of glasses you wear day in and day out is different than tossing out disposable contact lenses. (Posted on 11/16/11)

I'm both excited and sad I won't get it for another two weeks but knowing this is the LAST cycle with tampons is great!
I'm terrified about inserting it though. Knowing me, I'll leak all over and make a huge mess or it will hurt really bad or not fit.
Yeah, yeah I know in a month I'll be back saying how AMAZING the divacup is. It's just pre first time user fright, that's all. :) I see too many raves on here about this NOT to know I'm making the best decision EVER.
I'll give it a 5 star because of my reading past reviews and my own excitement about this. (Posted on 11/15/11)

    76. Clean and Convenient Review by RoseBug
      Quality

      Pros:
      1. Cleaner than tampons. Catches 98% so not as much getting on other surfaces. (2% might escape on extraction, have tissue handy)
      2. Can change/empty anytime. No worries that you need to time the use so you will have enough disposable products to last all day.
      3. No nasty trash. cleaner bath room!
      4. If you have used tampons, insertion is very much same angle. One foot on tub helps. Not difficult at all.
      5. More effective, no accidents or spotting.
      6. Good investment, will pay for it's self in 6 months.
      7. Seeing/measuring fluids is surprisingly interesting.
      8. Can clean tiny holes at rim by pinching like a pimple.
      9. Never run out of product, always ready to use.
      10. That environment thing.

      Cons:
      1. Didn't get earlier. Wasted money, worries and cleanliness. (Posted on 11/9/11)

      Quality

I bought a divacup a while ago, but ever since not being able to get it out, I was afraid to use it again. But as I was reading through the comments on here, I thought heck, I'd give it another try. So I did, and it went extremely well. I did better putting it in and learning tricks on getting it out, and it was so nice to not have to feel the lunapad rubbing against my legs! I DID feel like I wasn't on my period! I liked it, but am still a little afraid to use it again. I guess I just need to practice more by using it more often! If I get the hang of this, I think I will love it more!!
Also, it's a bonus to be able to know the volume at a certain time, because then I know how often I have to go empty it out. And it's nice to be able to keep it in overnight! Makes cleaning easier (than using and washing a lunapad)! (Posted on 10/22/11)

I've never been able to use tampons (ever ever) and I've been a loyal Lunapad girl for two years. Yesterday, I finally tried the DivaCup I've had hidden in my closet for a year. I'm on day 2 of my period and I cannot tell you how much this has changed my life already. I have endometriosis and excruciatingly painful periods. It is BEYOND amazing not to have to deal with feeling wet and gross in addition to the pain. Not to mention not having to pack a full bag of pads every time I leave the house. The cup is also great for me to keep track of the color and volume of my flow, which is essential to being in touch with my body and keeping track of my health.

I can't believe I waited this long to try the DivaCup. If you are on the fence, just order one. Be brave. It will absolutely change your life. I promise. (Posted on 10/20/11)

I just ran my first 5k race. With one detail: I was wearing a diva cup. Its comfortable and I can completely forget that I am wearing it for hours. And even though, I never felt so clean in my life during my period I also never felt so connected to my body. There is something about seeing your body at work and being able to see your flux vary throughout the days of your period for real. For the first 2 days its tricky to put in and take out. I am beyond in love with my Diva Cup. I have always used tampons, and couldn't even bring myself to use ones without applicators, because of the "ick factor". The problem was, after a couple days, I would be so sore. It was an ordeal just to insert or remove the tampons. My flow was too heavy to stick with just pads though, so I beared with it. I found out about the Diva Cup, and the first thing I was excited about was the fact that you can wear it for 12 hours! After I talked myself down about the ick factor, I ordered it, and couldn't wait to try it! (Weird, huh? Being excited about your period). That cycle was exceptionally short, for me (I was super stressed at the time), but it was so easy to use! I had NO problems with leaking, inserting, or removing!! I couldn't wait to try it again during a more "normal" cycle (usually close to 7 days long for me). It's been a few months now, and I still can't believe how I ever endured tampons for so long. There's been a couple times I got caught at work without my Diva Cup, and I still had tampons in my purse, but I could wait to get home and switch them out. On top of the ease, it doesn't dry you out, and you're not sticking fiber and chemicals in yourself. (Posted on 9/15/11)

    86. Love, love, love The Diva Cup!!! Review by Julie
      Quality

The first thing I learned from the Diva Cup is that I do not have heavy flow. I had been using super plus tampons previously and when I switched to reusable products I discovered I did not in fact need that much protection. The measurement lines on the cup made it easy to determine my actual flow, something that cannot really be seen in a tampon. Tampons absorb so much of the necessary moisture in addition to menstrual flow that it is very easy to mistake average flow for heavy. The Diva cup put me in touch with my cycles and brought me back to nature. The duration of my periods became 2 days shorter and severe cramps becam a thing of the past. I used to experience fatigue during my periods as well and the Diva cup cured me of that as well. I sometimes wonder if such symptoms are related to the use of disposable feminine care products than they are related to menses. (Posted on 9/2/11)

      Quality

I love my DivaCup! Having been using it for years now. Like others have said, there is a learning curve so give yourself time and you will never look back once you get used to taking it out. Note: I am 48 years old and use the size 1 (small) even though the recommendation was for size 2 (large). The larger cup was painful but the smaller cup fits great. I am very small and have never been pregnant, so your results may vary if these things differ for you, but if you're little like me and the larger cup seems too large, you might try sizing down. 88. Get a Good Grip on it Review by Danielle
      Quality

I bought a Diva cup 4 years ago and I absolutely loved it. No weird sleeping positions to prevent leakage, no bulky wet pads, no dry tampons. It was magical. And then one horrible day at work, on the first and heaviest day of my period, I'm emptying the cup when the stupid automatic flush turns on right as my fingers slip, and woosh, Divacup down the toilet. I just wanted to cry, and I wanted the damn toilet to give me back my Divacup. I immediately purchased a new one and sucked it up with Divacup-less period, but you really have no idea how much the Divacup makes periods less annoying until you lose it. (Posted on 8/15/11)

      Quality

So I'm a 14 year old girl and you know how it is at my age, my period is CRAZY! I would have to use a tampon and an overnight pad but even that, I had to change every 2 hours! I used to cry myself to sleep because my period was seriously taking over my life. I was doing some research and came across the diva cup and god bless I did!! I almost forget it's there (and I always used to have troubles with tampons), my advice would be to run it under water before inserting it and practice, practice, practice! Its gonna be hard the first few times so try it out before your period. PLEASE BUY THIS LIFE SAVER!! (Posted on 8/3/11)

    90. BUY THIS!! Review by kaly
      Quality

I read reviews about the DivaCup for months before deciding to finally buy one, and it was silly to wait all that time. Inserting it for the first time made me nervous, but within a day I felt really proficient. I had maybe 2 drops leak out that first night, but after that it was absolutely leakproof.

Emptying the cup is a bit messy, but once it's in you almost forget that you have your period and it feels really clean and sanitary. On light days I am comfortable leaving it in for the full 12 hours, but on heavier days I empty it every 6-8 hours because you obviously can't tell how much is inside unless you look, and it just makes me feel more secure. I have no discomfort with insertion, but I do find that it's a little uncomfortable removing it since you are pulling out the full diameter of the cup as opposed to the smaller insertion diameter when it's folded. But that discomfort lasts about half a second, and is a small price to pay for all the benefits. If I have to push out a BM the cup moves down, but I just push it back up and it's fine. I had to trim off half the stem and then I didn't feel the cup at all.

The only negative is that I really wanted to buy some lunapads but I don't need pads anymore since this works so well! (Posted on 7/21/11)

    91. the best thing I've ever bought Review by Taryn
      Quality

If you're on the fence: BUY IT. I bought my first diva cup in 2004 and lost it in 2009 to my great dismay... but it was a great excuse to buy another one! It's of such good quality, I imagine you could use the same one for decades. No hassle, no monthly trips to the drug store, no garbage, less cramps, no smell, no itching, etc. I've converted a handful of like-minded girlfriends to the Diva Cup and they all love it as much as I do. I can't recommend it enough - get one before your next period and start living the good life! (Posted on 7/14/11)

    92. Best product EVER Review by AGIE
      Quality

I was skeptical about the DivaCup. It seemed to be a messy, implausible idea. I was, however, looking for more natural solutions than the bleached tampons and scary white pantyliners that were flooding the market (no pun intended ;)). I had one shipped to me and tried it out. It was an adjustment during the first month. After the first month of using it, I became used to the feel and adjustment techniques of the cup and have used it every month since. While I know that it is not true, it feels like my periods are shorter and less of a hassle. I run, swim, workout and run around crazy with it and it has never once leaked. I have not had to use another form of protection since and I just recently purchased my second Diva Cup. I will never, ever go back to using anything other than the Diva Cup. If you are skeptical, try it. You will save money and a lot of time. It is the best product EVER! (Posted on 6/29/11)

I first found out about lunapads from a pamphlet I saw at my doctors. I had slowly been making the change into more natural products when I saw the tagline, "love your periods." I thought that was a joke but I really have loved my periods since switching. The Divacup is a great product. It has never once leaked though I wear a teeny pantyliner just in case. All of the lunapad product are of great quality. I feel so clean and feminine using these products and the customer service is awesome. I would recommend this product and the pads/pantyliners to anyone. (Posted on 5/30/11)

My divacup has been going strong for years now. Researching menstrual cups, I thought it would be an adjustment from tampons, but how different could it be? Quality

I just ordered my second DivaCup (first one I've had for about 2 1/2 years and it's looking a little worse for the wear)- I still consider it one of the best purchases I ever made! I read a testimonial that said your products helped a woman "make peace with her period", and that's exactly how I feel. I've always hated my heavy, heavy period passionately, but using a DivaCup has made a world of difference.

The DivaCup doesn't always trap the first two days of my heavy flow perfectly, but neither do tampons-- the DivaCup is by far the better option. I use a pad for my first couple days, and I hope to use your panty products in the future (trying out the panties in the order I just placed).

I recommend your product to women whenever we get on the topic; the DivaCup has made a surprisingly significant difference in my life. Thank you thank you thank you.

      Quality

Just finished my first cycle with my DivaCup. What a difference! Yeah, I had cramping on the first day, but it wasn't nearly as severe as in past months when I was using disposables. I love that I can go most of the day after the first couple of days without needing to empty the cup every time I go to the restroom, and there was NO moment where I felt I was overflowing. I had my doubts initially, but now I'm more than sold. As others have said, it shortened things, from a full seven to about five with spotting on the sixth day. (Posted on 5/11/11)

I am a mother of 3 and was worried how it would fit after 3 births. I found that by turning the diva inside out it was much more comfortable. and seemed to keep from leaking better. I wear a thin pad during any work outs or yoga since i do spot here and there. BUT, i wouldn't go back to tampons ever! It has not only made it much more peaceful of a process but also decreased the length of my period to just a few days. Highly recommend! (Posted on 5/6/11)

Hello everyone! I've had DivaCup for over a year and a half now. A colleague told me about it while I was living in Korea and am thankful she did. I'd become allergic to tampons (way too sensitive down there) & pads were out of the question.

I've always prided myself on loving every aspect of my body and being a woman; using the DivaCup took it to a whole new level. I honor myself for being a woman, and so much more.

Plus, I travel a lot so this is the safest and most cost effective way for that once a month honor me time. I currently live in China; DivaCup is a MUST have.

    99. Great for abnormally heavy periods Review by Cassie
      Quality

I have been using the Diva Cup for probably 2 years now. Before that, I had tried the heaviest tampons along with pantyliners and still had trouble. I have a form of dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia, which means a both painful period and an abnormally heavy period. I pass a lot more tissue (not blood clots!) than the average woman also. Thanks to the Diva Cup, I am able to measure how much my heavy flow is. The only time I leak is during the transition from medium to super heavy, due to how the female body changes for super heavy. Had I been given a "normal" cycle, it would be perfectly leak free. Even with the sensitivity/pain I get from dysmenorrhea, it's still easy to put in, and I hardly feel it.

I suggest that in order to keep from having a yeast infection, use a large cup of water (maybe a supersize takeout cup) and wash with soap & water thoroughly before re-inserting the cup. You can dump the Diva cup contents in the toilet, rinse the Diva cup with the water via large cup, and keep clean in many ways. You can buy the handy wipes and water bottle for public restroom use to do the same thing. If you notice the cup stains, don't get worried; it's still usable. (Posted on 5/4/11)

    100. It passed the bike test! Review by Liz
      Quality

On my first day using the Diva Cup I put it through the most strenuous test that exists for comfort... a 30 mile bike ride. I was aware of the cup being there, I could feel it each time I shifted position on the saddle, but it did not hurt or pinch in any way.

It did leak a little, but I attribute this to poor insertion technique rather than any failure on the products part. I have used it two other days since and had no leakage issues (though I did not take any lengthy rides).

After 3 days I am still having difficulty with removal since it tends to become, well, slippery, however that is not enough of a negative in my book. (Posted on 5/1/11)

The diva cup has completely changed the way I feel about my cycle. As most women I absolutely dread that time of the month, with the cramping, bloating and just feeling icky. I have just finished my 2nd month with the diva cup and I can't thank you enough, I actually forget that I am on my period. I no longer have any cramping and I don't have to worry about any embarrassing leaks, it is 100% leak free (if worn correctly). I have been paying it forward to all my family and friends. Thanks again. (Posted on 4/22/11)

      Quality

I've never been inspired to write a review for a product before now. I just finished my first cycle with the Diva Cup and I can't believe how easy it was and that I never tried it before now. I'm 29 years old and feel like I should have been using this product for the past 16 years! Using the diva cup was simple, comfortable, and sanitary, and I was able to forget about my period for hours at a time. Also, I'm a yoga teacher and I'm able to practice yoga with the cup -- no crinkling plastic noise or tampon getting lodged in an uncomfortable position! And not a single leak for the whole 6 days. I feel like telling every woman I know about this, and I can't imagine going back to pads or tampons ever again.

I also love to see my bathroom waste basket not filling up with plastic wrappers! If you're thinking about trying the diva cup out, please do yourself a favor and buy one immediately. It's worth every penny. (Posted on 4/15/11)

I've always heard about menstrual cups. But to be honest the thought kinda freaked me out and grossed me out at the same time.

It wasn't until a tampon "broke" inside of me causing me to hunt for small missing pieces (I'll spare the rest of the details) made me want to research menstrual cups in more detail.

Fast forward to today, I just finished my second cycle with the DivaCup and I can not express how happy I am with it.

I got the hang of it my the second day of using it (punch down fold all the way!). It's so comfortable (I don't feel it at all but I did trim half of the stem off however.) It's great for the environment, less "stuff I have to buy which will save me lots of money, my periods have been shorter with less cramps as well....the list goes on and on and on.

The other day while shopping, I walked through the fem. products aisle and in my head I waved bye-bye since I'm never going back. LOL!

I wish I would have explored this option many years ago. :)

      Quality

I just used my Diva Cup for the first time, and I am in love! Thank you for this amazing invention. To everyone who thought her period was even a little bit gross, it is nothing but beautiful with the Diva Cup. No slimy tampons with goo hanging off the end, or soggy pads squishing everything that is trying to come out being pressed back up against your body... When you use a Diva Cup all you have to deal with is a cute little cup holding a bit (or more than a bit) of clean red liquid, the pure and beautiful substance that your own body produces and that the doit-run "feminine hygiene" industry has managed to turn into something dirty and shameful. No way I'm flushing that stuff. I'm going to feed it to my plants.

Thank you! (And thank you to O.B. for screwing up badly enough to push me to try something I had been considering for years.) (Posted on 3/21/11)

The diva cup has been a total life saver for me. I'm prone to yeast infections and can't wear tampons anymore, plus they are very drying. I have also tried the disposable cups, but they don't fit well. I actually stopped doing yoga during my menses, because of these problems and I just found pads too cumbersome. My last cycle with the diva cup I was able to do yoga class during and didn't have any problems, not to mention it helped speed everything up and instead if 4-5 days of bleeding it was only 3 + a few days of spotting. The cloth pads are so great and I love that they come in fun colors. The moon pad bag is great too! Yay! (Posted on 3/21/11)

Hello ladies at LunaPads! I play roller derby and last night was the first time I played while wearing the DivaCup. Let me tell you! It felt like I was wearing nothing at all and it was wonderful. Roller derby is an extremely physical sport and a girl always has to be worried about if she's covered (down there) or if something's going to pop out (not to be completely crude). The DivaCup was so great I forgot that I was even on my period. Thank you! (Posted on 3/21/11)

    108. Fight the power Review by Zoob
      Quality

It's been YEARS since I swore off tampons and pads, mostly for selfish reasons, and not with any eco-friendly, environment saving goal. In my own experience tampons would rub me wrong, and pads got irritating at the end of my cycle from the constant friction in my pants. Besides normal cramping I didn't wanted the added world of hurt I got from using disposable menstrual products. I also got pissed when I realized how much they were costing me out of pocket. So I was about 20 when I said, "f that!" and started doing research online for an alternative to so much bs. At first I thought maybe I could start with reusable cloth pads, but quickly realized I was too damn lazy to wash anything that many times, so I got me a DivaCup. DivaCup, you have done right by me. I'm 25 now, so I'd say it's been a good five years. The only time I've experienced major leakage was last week, when I lost you and had to temporarily use tampons. I was so grateful when I found you again, hidden under some bandaids. I will never lose you again.

Sure, I spot my underwear sometimes, but that's nothing compared to the mess pads made. And sometimes I get really annoyed having to put the cup in when I'm in a hurry, but in reality it's only a minute more in the bathroom. Emptying the blood is still a novelty for me as well. It's good times witnessing the splash and watching it go down the with the toilet cycle. I also like knowing just how much comes out of me at a given time. The best part is that it's not messy, it's not fussy, I can't accidentally have it shoved up there when I'm having sex, I don't have to buy any more pads or tampons, and besides forgetting that it's in there, I have no problems with it whatsoever. Isn't it amaaaazing that you can forget it's in there? I've accidentally left it in for a whole day before I experienced the telltale leakage and had to make a casual stop at the bathroom. Probably not the best for my vag, but I'm sure the rest of you are more conscientious than myself. So cheers for a five year investment that cost me forty upfront, so far eight dollars a year (instead of eight dollars a month), and will last me for many more years to come. (Posted on 3/10/11)

    109. Stick With It Review by V-Bone
      Quality

I have been using the diva cup for several months now and think it is a great product. It is so wonderful not having to think about changing anything all day long, even on your heaviest day. As well, you don't need to carry supplies everywhere you go.

Please be patient when you first try it because it does take some getting used to. I would suggest you keep your nails short and take your time. Read the instructions carefully. Despite it's big appearance, it really does fit comfortably once it's in the right spot.

I suffer with endometriosis and I'm hoping that this might help with that. If not, at least the environment is happier. (Posted on 3/9/11)

I was a little nervous trying the DivaCup. Out of the box, and to a nervous newbie, it seems way too big to go where it needs to go comfortably. But once I got into the hang of of using it, it was absolutely amazing, and I doubt I'll use anything else.

In an effort to have a more eco (and body) friendly mode of birth control, I use the Paragard IUD to cut out the hormones for myself and for the sake of wildlife (like frogs) that're exposed to hormones that pass through the urine. Unfortunately a side-effect of that is a super-heavy period. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the DivaCup handled it with no problems at all. No wet string, as with a tampon, and I was able to wear it for the whole day with no problems. Best of all, ZERO waste. (Posted on 3/8/11)

    113. LIFECHANGING Review by Clair
      Quality

I struggled to write a review that will actually do this product justice. It will change your life forever. I am a mom of 2, and at 31 yrs old, seriously considered having an endometrial ablation, to rid me of "Aunt Flo" forever, simply because I am finished having children (hubs had a vasectomy). Depressingly, the deductible was cost-prohibitive, and I was forced to continue dealing with it, and despite breastfeeding #2 for 24 months, my period returned, with excitement, after 12 months.

Here we are, 4 years later, and I've been "dealing" with it. I am a triathlete, and outdoor enthusiast and this REALLY bites. Because hubs can't get me pregnant, I'm au natural, and I refuse to go on the pill because of the drastic, awful hormone changes (I even tried BCPs for a cycle to re-arrange it for a vacation with disastrous results). Additionally, we live organically, and Tampax and their comrades, go against my grain.

I used to dread, DREAD, my period. Ladies, once you have children, all bets are off. Ya change. If you're an athlete, or not, or just an innocent sleeper who leaks, "double protection" really sucks.

Let's just say, after I discovered the DivaCup, my daughter's "talk" will go very differently. (Posted on 2/20/11)

I heard about this from a friend and was a little doubtful, but on a frustrated whim during a wasteful cycle, I went ahead and ordered a divacup and luna pads. The first cycle was a challenge and it took a little effort to get used to placing it and figuring out when it was full. But with the pads as backup I never had any issue and best of all NO IRRITATION EVER. The silicone cup is extremely comfortable and a billion times more healthy. I wish I learned about this when I was 13. It's perfect for camping and climbing trips too. (Posted on 2/7/11)

Tampons never worked for me. I have a very heavy period so I was always doubling up tampons with pads.
I have used the divacup for one cycle and I'm already in love with it. It took about a day to figure it out and get used to it. I will never go back to tampons. I do not leak at all and my period is so stress free.

An added bonus was that I was able to keep track of my blood loss and was able to determine exactly how much I had lost during this cycle, which I can now take to my doctor to show I have an unusually heavy flow.

I recommend this product to all of my female friends. (Posted on 2/6/11)

A tampon user, I always thought the Diva Cup would be nasty, messy, hard to use and uncomfortable. But I started to loathe that scratching feeling from too-dry tampons enough to give it a go. To my surprise, I couldn't feel it at all -- and it was super convenient not to have to worry about running out.

I have found the diva cup to work great for sports, swimming, night time and everyday. I usually forget I'm having my period, since I only have to change this twice a day -- once when I get up, and once before I go to bed.

Now that I've been using this for four years tampons seem disgusting. The smell, the scratchiness, the always having to change them and don't get me started on the string. I'd suggest any tampon user to try the diva cup. Really, you have nothing to lose -- they're so inexpensive in comparison to reams and reams of tampons. (Posted on 2/5/11)

I was so excited about using the divacup I had a countdown to the start of my period! it's so handy, I love that I can insert it before my blood comes so that there's no messy surprises! it took a couple of tries to insert it properly but once I figured it out it was easy. my period pain has gone and I love love love not having to wear stuffy disposable pads at night! it's also great because I can go out and drink, not worrying about drunkenly falling over while trying to change a tampon, let alone remembering to do so every 4 hours!

My friend is very curious about it and is keen to try, I'm excited to be a part of this education and liberation!

    124. Convenient, easy to use, comfortable Review by Rachel
      Quality

I love not having to carry around tons of pads or tampons! This is so convenient, easy to use, and is more comfortable to insert than a tampon. It did take a couple of days to get the hang of it but it's worth it! I've convinced my sister, my cousin and even a co-worker to switch! I highly recommend this product to anyone. 125. never going back! Review by SammyKay
      Quality

I switched to DivaCup about 5 cycles ago. Amazing! Not only do I feel super about not throwing anything away, it's reconnected me with my body and period. Combined with my so pretty lunapads, it's actually something I look forward to! I was a little freaked out about the size, compared to a little O.B tampon- it was a bit freakish. But once it's in, you don't feel it and I can work all day without even worrying about leaking! I recommend it to anyone! Buy one, you know you want to! (Posted on 2/4/11)

    126. No more dryness! Review by Kim
      Quality

Love the Diva cup! Tampons were too drying and causing a UTI or even a yeast infection. Have been using the Diva cup for 2 years and not one UTI or yeast infection. I can go 12 hours without thinking about my period. It is almost like not having one. Empty and wash in the morning and at bedtime and I am done! No more extra trips to the bathroom for "the check"! It does take a few cycles to get use to inserting and removing but once you figure it you will never go back to tampons again!

    127. Revolutionized My Period Review by Sandy
      Quality

The Diva Cup really did completely change how I view my period. It is no longer a part of being a woman that I hate and dread and no longer am I pretty certain that my period will be followed by a yeast infection. In fact, I have not had a single YI since switching to the Diva Cup. The Diva Cup is comfortable enough that I cannot feel it once it's inserted. Having found this was the best thing I could have done for myself. (Posted on 2/4/11)

    128. Perfect Tampon Alternative Review by Colie
      Quality

My sister told me about the Diva Cup last year and I think it is an amazing product. I always used organic cotton tampons before the diva cup, but this seems so much better for your body. It is non-toxic and creates hardly any waste. It also works on a heavy flow day, and I have gone swimming with it no problems! It has always shocked me that people put tampons with rayon into their body every month without questioning what that can do to you. (Posted on 1/29/11)

    129. Wish I'd had this since I was 13 Review by Riz
      Quality

I love my Diva Cup (& my Lunapads too!). I've been using it for over a year now and I will never go back to tampons or plastic pads. It takes the guessing out of choosing a tampon - I have a heavy period for two days and then 4 or 5 days of very light bleeding. With tampons, I found I would either leak or feel dried out, despite keeping every absorbency level on hand. With the Diva cup, I do not need to stock an in-home pharmacy and I always feel comfortable.

And I LOVE that they are safe to wear before your period starts. This is especially great if you think you are about to start your period but are going out for the day. No worries about running to the bathroom to check if you've started or not! And you don't need to pack anything which is great for those of us who are forgetful.

When I first got mine, I found the long stem irritating but they give you directions on how to cut it shorter if this happens to you. I trimmed mine right down (to the shortest recommended length) and have no problems retrieving it. I don't grab the stem, I grab the base itself which has ring "grippers" on it.

One problem is negotiating your way from the toilet to the sink to rinse it out before reinserting it. I have solved this in a few different ways. At home, I have a "mini-shower" that attaches to your toilet tank water line and can be hung from the tank or to the wall, so I don't need to get off the toilet to rinse it off. I highly recommend this! There are links to this product on most cloth diapering sites since many mamas use these to spray off the solids before the dirty diapers go in the pail.

When I am working outdoors or travelling, I pack one or two perinatal bottles full of water, some TP and some hand sanitizer. Then I can clean up, pull out, rinse, and reinsert no matter where.

I honestly think every woman should give this a try! And its cheep too!

    130. Life Changing!!! Review by AW
      Quality

I started using the Diva cup 3 cycles ago. I was preparing for a vacation where pads would not be practical and this was recommended by a friend. I gave it a try a couple of months in advance to make sure I'd be comfortable with it and from the first time I used it I LOVED it!

I have VERY heavy periods (I have to empty the cup every 3-4 hours on heavy days and even then it is often full or half full) and I have very minimal spotting, but that's it! To be able to get by with just a light pantyliner (if that) is AMAZING! I just purchased some Lunapads to try those out as well as the panties and can't wait to be free of disposables!

THANK YOU for creating a product that is changing women's lives this way!

I have been telling everyone who will listen about it and have converted a couple ladies already who also love it! My husband might be getting sick of hearing me talk about it, but other women I have told have all been very interested after knowing how I suffered before this haha! (Posted on 11/17/10)

    131. Love the DivaCup Review by Sarah
      Quality

I have used this Diva cup instead of tampons for about 5 months now, and I am VERY happy with it. I like that it can stay in for 12 hrs without having to worry about anything and doesn't even leak. I also like that it is much more comfortable than tampons, and I never have to worry about rushing to the store to buy more. It took a couple of tries to learn how to get it positioned correctly, but after that it's a snap. (Posted on 11/12/10)

    132. A great idea! Review by Grace
      Quality

I have been using a diva cup for 5 years and I would never go back to using tampons. A friend recommended it to me. At first I thought the concept of diva cup was a little weird, but it doesn't take long to get the hang of using one. Owning a diva cup has saved me a lot of money over the last 5 years, and more importantly saved me from sending a lot of tampons to landfill. I can definitely recommend it. (Posted on 11/1/10)

    133. Freedom Review by GeorgiaBee
      Quality

I began using my Diva Cup four years ago and it has served me well wherever I am. After I moved to another continent, my Diva Cup helped me have a sense of comfort and consistency when it came to my moon time. I never worried about running out or having to "find" another brand that would replace the one I used at home. No, Diva Cup took that potential "culture shock" out of my experience and would be the item I would never travel without.

I have tried other types of "cups" and Diva Cup is by far the best and most reliable one on the market. I wish I had found this product and Lunapads sooner because it makes me feel so taken care of during my cycle. It is also the most financially liberating product a woman could give to herself and that is something we can all take to the bank, especially these days. :)

    134. So cool! Review by Jackie
      Quality

I'm on period #3 with my Diva Cup, and I love it so much! My Diva Cup has never leaked and I don't need to wear a liner. I can put it in before work and not empty it until I get home nine hours later. If I do need to empty it in a public bathroom, it's not that big of a deal, just wipe it out and put it back in. It's so much nicer than tampons, I don't feel all dried out, or like I'm trying to soak up and scrape out all traces of menstruation from myself. It took a couple tries to figure out how to insert it the first time, but now it's a super easy and once it's in I can't feel it at all. I feel way better not creating all kinds of trash just because I'm on my period. I talk endlessly about how neat it is to anybody who will listen. I think periods are cool, and now I feel like I'm participating in mine and not trying to destroy any evidence of it. I highly recommend the Diva Cup! (Posted on 7/19/10)

    135. Fantastic Product! Review by Amy
      Quality

I was always afraid of tampons because of the risk of TSS and found plastic pads uncomfortable and limiting. The Diva Cup is the perfect solution! I especially love marching right past the feminine hygiene aisle at the grocery without any worry about how "stocked" I am at home. And, now that I know what a dramatic difference there is between cloth panty liners and plastic ones, I've made up my mind that if we ever have children, I'll only cloth diaper them. Thanks for this tremendous product! (Posted on 7/18/10)

Wow, it's been a few years since I've had my first Diva period and I'm still as thrilled today with it as the first day I used it. The worry is gone...the disposable tampons and pads are gone...the mess is gone. I feel much cleaner during my period. Confident, knowing that I'm protected. I'm 40yrs old, with 3 kids and my periods are the last thing on my mind now a days. (Posted on 7/8/10)

      Quality

I have been using the Diva Cup for a couple of years and I will never go back to tampons. I hated using tampons, when I heard about this I could not wait to get one. I was not disappointed. It is so easy to use and so comfortable you (almost) forget it is there. I cannot recommend the Diva Cup enough. (Posted on 6/21/10)

    138. Mess-free, comfortable, and educating Review by Katherine
      Quality

In addition to what everyone else said about the comfort, convenience, and (maybe surprising) lack of mess that the Diva Cup provides, I want to add something else. I've learned far more about my periods from the 2 years that I've been using the cup.

My first Diva Cup period, I had started a new job and was still in training, so I had to have someone with keys escort me everywhere, even the bathroom! Thanks to the Diva Cup, that was much less often than it would have been for me. Also, later I took a plane flight. I have extremely heavy periods. Between tight connections and traveling with 2 kids, and not having access to the bathroom due to turbulence, it could have been a nightmare and embarrassment. Between the Diva Cup and a Maxi Lunapad, I made it with no embarrassment and a limit to how much time I had to spend in the bathroom.

The thing is, though, I've learned that my period is extraordinarily heavy. I fill the cup in two hours on my heaviest days. Most days of my period, I'm emptying it every three to four hours at least, and it has filled about half the way or more many of the times I do. Before I could say "I fill a tampon pretty quickly" but now I know how many ounces in how long a time. I realize that there is a reason I'm anemic, and VERY tired after my periods. The information helps me to be more gentle with myself and also realize I need to take particular care of myself. I have information I can bring with me to the doctor to talk about fibroids and other issues. The information makes a big difference, and it is something that you don't get with disposables or absorbing products. (Posted on 5/31/10)

    139. excellent Review by M
      Quality

I use my DivaCup with my lunapanties for a mess-free totally comfortable period.

Though it's most convenient for those with lighter/medium flow, it is manageable for people with heavier flow. In fact, I find it the most comfortable option available.

My DivaCup needs to be emptied at least once (sometimes twice) a day during heavy flow. However, I have learned to do this discreetly: using single-occupancy bathrooms in cafes, learning the traffic patterns of the bathroom near my office (ex-it's busiest after lunch), etc. After about a month or two, I learned the signals that indicated that my DivaCup was becoming full so I could schedule my emptying in an appropriate and timely manner. In addition, I always wear back-up lunapanties just in case. (Posted on 4/22/10)

I bought my Diva Cup just after my previous cycle. This was the first time in my life that I had looked forward to getting my period. I Just finished my first cycle with the diva cup and it is so great! I did have some difficulty placing it correctly at first but it is still a revolutionary tool that all women should know about. The DivaCup is so comfortable and it's much more reliable and convenient than tampons. Quality

I have used the DivaCup for close to eight years and LOVE it. I have terrible cramps with my period and found that once I switched to the cup, this changed. Now, they are more cope-able and feel natural and normal. I also love the fact that with a heavy flow I never leak any more. I've tried tampons since and always regret it! It's easy to use, soft and I feel like I'm taking care of myself not just dealing with my period. (Posted on 4/16/10)

      Quality

I had problems with my period, either my flow would be short lived and very heavy, or dreadfully long lived and extremely light. I just can't stand sanitary napkins and tampons were never absorbent enough, or would dry me out.

The Diva Cup is perfect! My saviour! It doesn't matter what kind of flow I have, it's always just enough. It's also great not to have to worry about having enough supplies on hand either as you only need the one. Although I do have 2. One at home, and one at work, so that I'm never without. 144. Wallet and environmentally friendly Review by Jessica
      Quality

I love my DivaCup. I don't waste money on tampons, and I don't waste resources using them (without sacrificing comfort or convenience-- or my health!). It's a one-time purchase that you can use for years and years, and holds way more than any traditional tampon.

Just a side note: mine wasn't comfortable until I cut off the tip. I guess I'm "small" enough to not need the tip to pull it out, but I found that it could not be placed properly unless that part was removed. I used a pair of regular scissors and boiled my cup for 20 minutes after doing so. It might not work for everyone! (Posted on 4/14/10)

The DivaCup is fantastic! For the last two or three years I've been reading about this product and was constantly curious. When I began to hear reports of multiple friends spouting their conversion from tampons and pads to Diva Cup, I decided to try it. I've been using mine since December and have yet to be disappointed!!! I'm now like my friends, recommending it to any woman who will listen to me! (Posted on 4/13/10)

    146. Can't live without it! Review by Grover
      Quality

This is an amazing product, especially for women with light to medium flows. I'm sure so many women have had the unpleasant, painful experience of trying to remove a dry tampon towards the end of your period. Terrible. The Diva Cup eliminates that discomfort, and if your flow isn't heavy you can literally forget that you're on your period. I only think about it twice during the day - at morning and at night when I clean it out. I've even gone more than 24 hours without washing it out when camping, since it never seems to fill up for me.

It does take a little getting used to to put in, but so did tampons when I first learned how to use them. Yes, you will have to deal with your blood in a new way. I'm a squeamish person myself but I've found it so cool to get to know how my flow changes throughout my cycle, and to get to know my body a little better. I am so much more comfortable, saving so much money, and experiencing SO MUCH less hassle with my period. I'm on my second Diva Cup now - I replaced my first one after two years since it'd started to discolor and I wanted to treat myself to a new one. The quality of the product hadn't degraded at all in that time. Really - if you're considering it, go for it. You won't regret it. (Posted on 4/13/10)

    147. Best of all possible worlds Review by Ellie
      Quality

I switched to Lunapads years ago because I was inspired to care better for the planet and for my body. But I had never been a fan of pads in general, and the adjustment to having extra padding in my panties wasn't easy. I tried The Keeper at one point, but the rubber was too stiff and I found it uncomfortable. Finally, though, at the prompting of a friend, I decided to give the DivaCup a whirl and I've never looked back. The silicone is softer & more pliable than rubber, and I love the ease of use, the fact that I can wear any underwear I want with it, and of course the fact that I'm not clogging up the landfill (or my plumbing, for that matter). As a special bonus, I've found that it's also great for my sex life - it stays in place and out of the way in an almost miraculous fashion. (Posted on 4/13/10)

One of the first things we should all learn about as young teens, at least to have the option. (sadly I didn't find out til ten years later...! Australia is in the dark about these.)

No need to worry, you can live your life and forget periods. Less cramping, and suitable for all kinds of women (and menstrual flow)
Easy enough to clean out when you shower. Takes up next to no room in a draw, and lasts a very long time!

Great for women, great for the planet. Try it! You won't regret the change. I promise :) (Posted on 4/9/10)
