PerformanceA single Pad will get you through an entire day of your cycle; just change your Insert as needed. Inserts will last approximately as long (per use) as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon. Unlike most disposable pads, Lunapads do not contain any added chemicals, gels, or super absorbent polymers. Given this, Lunapads users need to be mindful of changing the Insert as frequently as their flow dictates in order to prevent soaking through the Pad. Frequent changing of the Inserts significantly enhances the comfort and performance of the Pad.
Lunapads will last upwards of 5 years with recommended usage and care.
Lunapads can be washed by hand or machine in any temperature with your regular detergent. Pre-soaking or rinsing in cold water prior to washing is recommended (but not always necessary) particularly if the pads are heavily saturated. Please note that if Lunapads are being soaked, soaking water must be changed daily.
We recommend natural cleaning products such as Nellie’s All Natural Laundry Soda for regular cleaning, and Buncha Farmers Stain Remover to perk up stained Lunapads. Heavily stained Pads, inserts, or Pantyliners may also benefit from occasional machine wash and dry in hot settings or air drying in direct sunlight.
Please avoid the use of chlorine bleach or fabric softeners to clean Lunapads, as this will decrease the performance of the products and is harmful to the environment.
Allow for a 5-10% rate of shrinkage after washing.
Wrap the Pad around the gusset of your underwear and close the snap to secure. The fleece panel should be facing up (towards your body on the inside of the panty), as this is the most absorbent part of the pad. Incorrect placement may result reduced comfort and performance of the Pad.
Inserts can be added as desired by inserting the ends under the ric-rac bands on the Pad. Multiple Inserts may be used for increased absorbency. Pads can be refreshed as desired by removing and replacing the Insert(s). Please note that Inserts are not intended to be worn without a Pad.

I was skeptical at first about how these would absorb and how comfortable cloth would be. These are EXTREMELY MORE COMFORTABLE than disposables. And they are not bulky like I was initially worried about.
I have long, very heavy periods with a lot of spotting in between and this kit is perfect for me! There are sizes for spotting days, heavy days, and nights. However, if you worry about leaks at night I would recommend supplementing this kit with one of the pads that is wider and longer in the back because although I have yet to have a leak I feel that the overnight pad isn't big enough for heavy flow when sleeping on my back. I am completely impressed with these pads. The liners make cleaning the pads easy and the variety of sizes in the deluxe kit covers nearly every need I have during my cycle. I use the long pads for overnight, the maxi pads during the day, and the mini pads for lighter days. I supplemented the kit with pantyliners for days when I am spotting and have ordered four extra maxi liners. I hand wash my pads and liners and have found that the mini pads and liners take a day to air dry but the maxi and long pads a liners take a day and a half or two to dry completely. Like some of the other reviewers, I was hesitant at first. But Lunapads was having such a great sale, I decided why not try it. WOW! I am so glad I did. No more gross plastic bunching and feeling uncomfortable! No more crunchy noises when you walk! These pads are so comfortable and absorbent-they have exceeded my expectations. Care for these pads is simple as well-I wash mine out and keep them in a lingerie bag until I have a full load of laundry to do. Then toss them in! Thank you for making an outstanding and long lasting product! (Posted on 7/22/13)
I have been using alternative menstrual products for two years. I love my Lunapads sampler kit (which is no longer offered) and my postpartum kit, so I decided to expand my Lunapads collection and take advantage of a recent 20% off sale (in addition to the featured item sale price) on the deluxe kit. I couldn't decide what pattern I wanted, so I ordered mix and match. I absolutely love them. They are adorable. I have menorrhagia, so I have to get additional liners. The only thing that would make this kit better is if they offered trifold liners for the mini, maxi, and long pad. Overall, the pads are so comfortable, functional, and pretty. They give me something to look forward to during that time of the month. (Posted on 7/7/13)
This is seriously one of the best decisions I have made. I love using the lunapads, they are very comfortable not to mention the joy of knowing I am not using disposable products anymore. I feel a sense of accomplishment every month when I do not need to throw away a used product. I am never turning back now! (Posted on 1/3/13)
I purchased my kit just a few months ago. I've always used tampons until now, so I wasn't sure how I would feel about switching to pads. I was especially uncertain about how it would work out living in the college dorms, where everyone sees all your laundry and everything. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised! The lunapads are extremely comfortable - honestly the first time I used one, it was better than just underwear. While I realize it might be a little harder to use these in the dorms than if you live on your own, with a little bit more planning it really works out well. I just keep them in a plastic bag in my closet until I take a shower, when I rinse them out. Then at the end of my period at put them all in the laundry. If they're all mixed into the rest of your load/loads (which is fine, especially if you've rinsed them out), you can't even see them. No one will notice, as they don't stand out from the rest of your items. Don't let living in the dorms scare you away from using these! (Posted on 12/9/12)
I purchased this kit about 4 years ago and am so happy I did. They are still in excellent condition after many, many washes. I have never had a leak with any of the Lunapads. The best part - COMFORT! I will never ever go back to plasticky, icky disposables. (Posted on 11/23/12)
I've had my deluxe kit for 5 years now and the pads are still in great condition and working perfectly. I bought the kit because I wanted to completely replace the disposables I was using, and the variety of pads included match perfectly with my cycle. Most months I use every pad in the kit, but I've never needed more. I used to have leaks when I was using disposables, but I haven't had that problem with lunapads. These also stay in place much better than disposables did.
Cleaning is much easier than you might think. I either wash them with something I'm not worried about staining like towels, or give them a quick pre-rinse and wash them with my clothes. After 5 years my pads have very few stains. If you're really worried about stains, get the darker colored fabrics. My black, purple and red ones still look great. (Posted on 2/26/12)
I finally started my period and am using my lunapads. I must say, I love them even more that I thought I would!!! They are so soft and comfortable. They feel just like your regular panties to me. I take birth control so I know exactly when my period starts. The day I was supposed to start, I just put on a lunapad pantyliner. That way I was covered before I even started. I would have never wanted to do that with a disposable pad- too uncomfortable! The care is not hard either. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Lunapads!!! (Posted on 9/23/11)
When I decided to switch to cloth pads, I decided to quit cold turkey. That meant I needed to get enough pads right away to cover my first period without disposables. I highly recommend this kit for that purpose. This kit is great for people who are paranoid about coverage. I have had bad experiences with leaks before, so I tend to use a larger pad even when I may not need it. This kit lets me get through a light first day, two nights, three heavy days and another light day. I supplemented this kit with another long pad and a moon pad bag for carrying. I suggest buying some extra liner inserts as well (I bought two sets for the maxi pads and one set for the minis). Wish I'd gotten mine later though, since I like the newer fabrics better than some of the ones I got! (And now that I have so many pads, no reason to buy any more =( )
The product itself absorbs well. The first time I used a lunapad was for overnight, using a Long pad, and I leaked everywhere. I don't know why because since that first pad I haven't had ANY leaking problems. I like being able to double up the liner inserts when I'm going to be out for awhile - gives me peace of mind.
The pads do shrink a bit in the wash, and the stitching on some of the liner inserts isn't perfect, but overall I am very pleased with this kit. (Posted on 9/17/11)
I am just getting into the whole cloth pad thing. I never even knew cloth pads were an option until recently. My initial reaction was the "ewww!" factor that every one talks about. But the more research I did, the better it sounded. I started researching my different options and realized that lunapads were for me. I went with the deluxe kit because I thought that it would suit my needs the best. I think that the deluxe kit will be enough for my whole cycle. I haven't actually.used them yet so I will update once I have used them. They arrived very quickly and are very cute! I chose "surprise me" and received a nice assortment of colors. They feel very soft and I think I am going to love using them. Disposables are very irritating and I am willing to bet that lunapads feel as comfy as your favorite Indies. :) (Posted on 9/15/11)
I was unsure whether or not to buy Lunapads but I am so glad I took the plunge and this kit was the perfect choice to get started with! I was worried that there wouldn't be enough pads in it since I thought I had a pretty heavy, almost unmanageable, flow (since I started using my Lunapads I've actually realized that my flow is a lot lighter than I thought) but after ordering a few extra liners, I couldn't imagine a better kit than this one. For an average to heavy flow this kit is perfect and saves a lot of money. The pads are so comfortably soft - no more plastic bunching and crunching! After you pop this in your cart I would recommend picking out a few extra liners and a moon pad bag just so that you're all set when mother nature reminds you of how awesome it is to be a woman. Oh, and I went with the assorted colored fabrics - they are all so much fun I couldn't bring myself to stop at only having one (and don't worry - they do a great job of representing all their cute designs)! Trust me, not only will you love Lunapads and this kit because it's good for the environment, you'll love it because they are so great for you! (Posted on 2/5/11)
