Suitable for menstrual flow or light bladder leakage. Overnight Pads & Inserts are each 14" (35.5cm) long and approximately 2.5" (6.5cm) wide when snapped. Allow for a 5% rate of shrinkage after washing. Note: When choosing the appropriate length for you, please allow for a 5-10% rate of shrinkage after washing.

Additional Overnight or Postpartum Inserts may be added to increase absorbency and prevent leaks. A single Pad will last  a full day of your cycle, provided that the Insert is changed before soaking through. Inserts will last approximately as long per use as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon.

Available fabric options are displayed below the product image. Click swatches to enlarge.

Wing Extenders add an extra ½" of width to fit underwear with a gusset wider than 2.5".

Pad Base: 2 Layer, 100% cotton flannel base topped with an absorbent panel made of 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece, and 1 layer of PUL to prevent soaking through. Nickel-free, Silver-plated brass single snap fastening. Click here to see how our pads are constructed.
Insert: 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece.

A single Pad will get you through an entire day of your cycle; just change your Insert as needed. Inserts will last approximately as long (per use) as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon. Unlike most disposable pads, Lunapads do not contain any added chemicals, gels, or super absorbent polymers. Given this, Lunapads users need to be mindful of changing Inserts as frequently as their flow dictates in order to prevent soaking through the Pad. Frequent changing of Inserts significantly enhances the comfort and performance of the Pad.

Lunapads will last upwards of 5 years with recommended usage and care.

Lunapads can be washed by hand or machine in any temperature with your regular detergent. Pre-soaking or rinsing in cold water prior to washing is recommended (but not always necessary) particularly if the pads are heavily saturated. Please note that if Lunapads are being soaked, soaking water must be changed daily.

We recommend natural cleaning products such as Nellie’s All Natural Laundry Soda for regular cleaning, and Buncha Farmers Stain Remover to perk up stained pads. Heavily stained pads may also benefit from occasional machine wash and dry in hot settings or air drying in direct sunlight.

Please avoid the use of chlorine bleach or fabric softeners to clean Lunapads, as this will decrease the performance of the products and is harmful to the environment.

Wrap the Pad around the gusset of your underwear and close the snap to secure. The fleece panel should be facing up (towards your body on the inside of the panty), as this is the most absorbent part of the pad. Incorrect placement may result in reduced comfort and performance of the Pad.

Liners can be added as desired by inserting the ends under the ric-rac bands on the Pad. Multiple Liners may be used for increased absorbency. Pads can be refreshed as desired by removing and replacing the Liner(s). Please note that Liners are not intended to be worn without a Pad.

    1. LOVE THEM!!! Review by Sarah

At first, when I was looking on this site I could not see myself using cloth pads. I thought to myself that is a thing in the past, but when I was reading all the reviews that these pads were getting, and looking on youtube and seeing how people really liked these pads. I finally ordered a kit and some liners to try out. The first night that I used them I could not believe that I have NOT been using them!! I did not leak at all(I have a heavy flow). I used to get up in the middle of the night to change, but not with the over night!! I love love love them!! If you are looking for something that will make your period easy, this is it!! I just got another kit in the mail the other day, because I love having all the different patterns that you can choose from. I wish I had these when I was a little girl first starting off. Now that I have found them I will not go back to the sticky non holding pads every again!!! MUST GET THIS!! (Posted on 2/26/14)

    2. Don't like wing? Review by Lauren

I love lunapads and these ones are great on the first couple nights of my period when it is really heavy. I don't find that the wings wick onto my clothes but sometimes I would rather have more absorbency without putting another liner on top.

So, if you don't like the wings hanging over the sides of your pad, fold them under but on top of the pad! No wicking, not noticeably bulky, and three layers of absorbency between the ric-rac. I do this on my mini pads during the day too and the wings stay folded under just fine even when I'm moving around. (Posted on 10/29/13)

    3. Good night’s sleep when I need it the most! Review by Lindsey

For the first time in my life I was able to sleep through the first and second night of my period without getting up to change my pad! I’m not sure how many women are out there that have heavy periods like mine but I’d like to share how lunapads has helped for those out there thinking about reusable pads. I find it pointless to use a menstrual cup or tampon the first two to three days of my period because my flow is so heavy that I’d have to change it every half hour to hour. In the day time I use the luna maxis with one or two inserts stacked and at night I use the postpartum inserts with an overnight pad. I find the lunapads are way more comfortable, absorb more and leak less than the disposable pads. I usually leaked at night every period and had to stumble out of bed multiple times to change my disposable pads. I haven’t leaked yet with my lunapads!

I love my lunapads! Cute designs, comfy cotton, no leakage, a good night’s sleep when I need it the most! (Posted on 4/20/13)

    4. Disposables are so gross! Review by Angie

I switched to cloth about 10 years ago and never looked back. These overnight pads are great for the first two days of my cycle and I am on here now replacing some that have lasted me 7 years! They are just now starting to look pretty worn out. Also, people talk about the special care for their pads but we have a large family and I just toss mine in my daily laundry so they get washed right away to minimize staining. I almost ALWAYS have a load of laundry going with 3 kids! This has seemingly had no ill effect on the pads as mine are lasting 7 years. (Posted on 1/23/13)

    5. I love my luna pads!! Review by Tamara

I have been using luna pads for a couple months, and I absolutely love them!! I used to only be able to wear super big pads during the day and night because of the amount I would bleed, so I was a little concerned when I purchased these because I wondered if they would even work for me. Luna pads have made me realize that I actually don't bleed as much as I thought! I used to get rashes (kind of like diper rashes) from my pads, but these are so soft and awesome!! Using re-usable pads have made me appreciate that I am a woman, and is a good way to learn that getting your period isn't gross at all, it is somthing the universe has gifted us with, and it is a BEAUTIFUL thing!! Some people think it is gross that I wash my own blood out of my pads, but I don't think of it like that. I don't get annoyed when I get my lady time anymore, I actually enjoy it most of the time!! The best part about using luna pads is knowing that while you are loving the soft ness and luxury of wearing them, you are also helping the planet so much!! This is the only planet we have, so let's save it baby!! YEAH!! Ha ha : ) (Posted on 6/4/12)

    6. Very Comfortable, Decent Absorbency Review by Julia

These are very comfortable and provide a large amount of coverage. However, like the smaller versions, I still find these prone to leaks around the wing area. Even with the tri-fold liner, I feel the absorbency could be better. The tri-fold liner is very thick (still very comfortable, but definitely noticeable), but I still feel that the pad itself is getting damp. As others have said, it would be nice if the ric-rac bands were also black. The winged liner option is comfy too and much less bulky, but I wouldn't use it on a heavy day as it would definitely wick the stain onto clothes.

These minor issues aside, I must say that the switch from disposables to reusables has been an absolute revelation. Once I really get comfortable using these products and work out what days it's best to use which ones, it'll be smooth sailing. No more rashes, itching or discomfort, and of course no more guilt at throwing away so much plastic and non-biodegradable substances. Oddly enough, even though I know a lot of women would think this would make them feel less 'clean' than a disposable, the opposite has been true for me. The breathability of reusables can't be beat and it makes a world of difference.

For anyone feeling squeamish about having a soaking vessel in the bathroom (or however else one would choose to deal with the used pads/liners), just compare it to having a garbage can full of soiled disposables. It's no more icky than that, and I happen to think it's actually far less 'gross' if you happen to live with someone (male or female) who might be uncomfortable with all things menstrual. You can always choose a vessel with a lid, and then voila - out of sight, out of mind. (Posted on 2/22/12)

    7. Fantastic! Review by Lavender

I originally purchased the overnight Lunapads as a “just in case” item. I love the diva cup, but thought it was wise to have some of these on hand just in case. I am so glad I did. I have been having kidney issues and encountering problems with mild incontinence. I am so glad I purchased these. They are soft, don't leave that nasty diaper rash feeling, or sweat. When you pick one out for the day it really boosts your mood to have the different fabric choices. Just knowing that the Heavy Pad is there really eases my worries. Thank you so much Lunapads! (Posted on 2/7/12)

    8. The best of the bunch. Love the wings; but there is also an alternative. Review by Rienne

These are my favourite of the Lunapads. They are great for the heavy flow at the beginning of the cycle, and are perfect for overnights. The hourglass shape on both ends is very smart. I actually also like the winged liners: the wing that snaps around the panties protects them, and the wings on the wing liner protect you from leakage beyond the sides of the pad in the middle. In case you haven't yet tried them, the heavy liners also available with these heavy pads 1) do not have wings (for any who don't appreciate them), 2) are better for heavy flow, and 3) are excellent for nighttime, when you might want to sleep rather than change a thin liner during the night. The heavy liner folds three times, so it absorbs 3X what the typical liner insert does. I sometimes get the benefit of both by putting the winged liner under the three-fold heavy liner for backup.

      I would like:
      1) If the ric-rac on all pads was black or another dark colour so that staining on it is not distracting.
      2) If there were black & more dark colourful organic pad options.
      3) If I could rationalize the outlay for buying more of these.
The heavy pads lose a star for these right now. (Posted on 1/17/12)

    9. great idea but need some improvement Review by Barb

Love the luna pads 14" length but wish they were slightly wider so that crotch of pantie is not crunched up when clipped together as this makes them prone to folding and pad and holder flopping foreward....another 1/2-3/4 inch on the wing where snaps are would help immensely.
Also the wing pads themselves are excellent accept I wish they too were slightly longer wings that would also have snaps on to hold in it is I am having to use big diaper pins to hold pads wings together so it stays in place...these changes would not cost much at your end and certainly would improve fit and wearability.
Otherwise an excellent product... Thanx (Posted on 1/16/12)

    10. Love the idea -- not happy with the liners Review by Ace

I wish I wish I wish that the liner did NOT have the wings -- these pads would be perfect if the liners didn't have wings. The wings don't appear on the other liners, I'm not sure why they're on these ones?

The wings on the liners end up wicking the stain around to my panties and clothes -- not ideal, to say the least!

I love the regular-sized pads, but for these overnight / heavy-day pads, I'm afraid I'm going to go to the competitor, whose liners don't have wings. (Posted on 12/16/11)

    11. Large and in charge Review by Miss K

I purchased one of these recently (I’ve been using Lunapads in general for a while now). It's actually quite large compared to the others. I personally find this one is great for overnight wear or for lounging at home in your 'comfy clothes'. Definitely worth having at LEAST one of these in your lunapads collection! (Posted on 9/18/11)

    12. my favorite Lunapads! Review by basbleu

These are just the thing for heavy days and especially heavy nights. They are SO much more comfortable than disposable pads, and as others say, there's no leakage from tossing and turning at night.

I do find that with these, I have to make sure the liner is positioned correctly, because it is prone to folding. (Posted on 8/29/11)

    13. Best change I've ever made! Review by Amy Boulanger

They are comfortable, clean, absorbent, personal and fun! I am the nervous type who is always checking my butt when I walk by anything with a reflection! I wore the big size pads to make sure I never leaked. They were like diapers. I dreaded that time of month. I decided to make myself feel secure I'd get the big size lunapad when I made the switch. They are WAY more absorbent and I have never leaked! No more diaper, no more checking butt! (Posted on 7/9/11)

    14. Love them Review by Laura D

These are wonderful for overnight. They are both long enough and thick enough to prevent leaks without the need for any sort of backup protection (like a Diva cup). I can't wait to buy a few more of these. (Posted on 7/7/11)

    15. Fantastic! Review by Jill

I am sooo glad that I came across lunapads! I have always had very heavy flows which means ruined underwear and sheets due to leakage. The lunapads brand are not only super comfy, soft and great for the environment, but they are also the only pad I have found to be long enough to wear overnight with no accidents. LOVE IT! I have recommended them to many of my friends. Thanks Lunapads. (Posted on 2/5/11)

    16. No Leaks! Review by Beth

Unlike disposable pads that leak, don't breathe, and are uncomfortable these are amazing! No matter how much I toss and turn, I can trust this heavy pad to keep me covered. And they are so comfortable! (Posted on 2/5/11)

    17. All Around Awesome Review by Mimi

I can't count how many pairs of underwear my daughter has ruined since starting her cycle. All of them at night. This pad is *perfect* for her because it doesn't matter how heavy her flow, or how much she tosses and turns, she hasn't ruined a pair of underwear since starting to use this pad! We love our lunapads!! (Posted on 2/5/11)

    18. perfect for postpartum comfort! Review by Annalise

I LOVED these for postpartum bleeding! SO happy I bought them, they are so much more comfortable than disposable pads and the size and shape is perfect for overnights!! (Posted on 2/4/11)
