Suitable for menstrual flow or light bladder leakage. Long Pads and Inserts are each 12" (30.5cm) long and approximately 2.5" (6.5cm) wide when snapped. Note: When choosing the appropriate length for you, please allow for a 5-10% rate of shrinkage after washing.Additional Long Basic or Long Wing Inserts may be added to increase absorbency and prevent leaks. A single Pad will last a full day of your cycle, provided that the Insert is changed before soaking through. Inserts will last approximately as long per use as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon.
Available fabric options are displayed below the product image. Click swatches to enlarge.
Wing Extenders add an extra ¬Ĺ" of width to fit underwear with a gusset wider than 2.5".
ConstructionPad Base: 2 Layer, 100% cotton flannel base topped with an absorbent panel made of 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece, and 1 layer of PUL to prevent soaking through. Nickel-free, Silver-plated brass single snap fastening. Click here to see how our pads are constructed.Insert: 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece.
PerformanceA single Pad will get you through an entire day of your cycle; just change your Insert as needed. Inserts will last approximately as long (per use) as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon. Unlike most disposable pads, Lunapads do not contain any added chemicals, gels, or super absorbent polymers. Given this, Lunapads users need to be mindful of changing their Insertss as frequently as their flow dictates in order to prevent soaking through the Pad. Frequent changing of the Inserts significantly enhances the comfort and performance of the Pad.
Lunapads will last upwards of 5 years with recommended usage and care.
Lunapads can be washed by hand or machine in any temperature with your regular detergent. Pre-soaking or rinsing in cold water prior to washing is recommended (but not always necessary) particularly if the pads are heavily saturated. Please note that if Lunapads are being soaked, soaking water must be changed daily.
We recommend natural cleaning products such as Nellie’s All Natural Laundry Soda for regular cleaning, and Buncha Farmers Stain Remover to perk up stained pads. Heavily stained pads may also benefit from occasional machine wash and dry in hot settings or air drying in direct sunlight.
Please avoid the use of chlorine bleach or fabric softeners to clean Lunapads, as this will decrease the performance of the products and is harmful to the environment.
Wrap the Pad around the gusset of your underwear and close the snap to secure. The fleece panel should be facing up (towards your body on the inside of the panty), as this is the most absorbent part of the pad. Incorrect placement may result in reduced comfort and performance of the Pad.
Liners can be added as desired by inserting the ends under the ric-rac bands on the Pad. Multiple Liners may be used for increased absorbency. Pads can be refreshed as desired by removing and replacing the Liner(s). Please note that Liners are not intended to be worn without a Pad.

I bought one of these pads a few months ago to try out, and I loved it so much that I just bought another. I can't believe how good it is. I used to use disposable overnight pads to sleep in, and they would leak ALL the time. I haven't had a single leak since switching to Lunapads! This is one of the best purchases I've ever made.
Seriously, try these!!!! (Posted on 6/11/14)
I just went through my first period with the Lunapads and I am never going back! This is by far the best solution available for me (DivaCup didn't work for me, and of course disposables are too gross). I got the heavy flow starter kit thinking I'd be mainly using the maxi pads, and only be using these long ones for overnight, but I found that I loved the long ones the most, perhaps because I felt much more secure because there is more "space" to drop blood (even the wings on the winged inserts are more spacious). Also, the rickrack is spread out further which eliminates the mild irritation/rubbing I was getting from it with the maxi pad; this also decreases the chance of staining the rickrack with blood. I'll keep the smaller ones around if I need them (i.e. need to wear tight clothes for whatever reason) but these will be my go-to everyday pads... and they'll also be perfect for when I am postpartum in the future ;) (Posted on 4/2/14)
My family asked what I wanted for my birthday, and I sent them my Lunapads wishlist! Well, I got lucky and received one of these!
It's been perfect to use for that first night when the flow is a bit heavier so I can rest easy knowing I'm covered!
I got a pair of winged inserts to go with it, and sometimes wear all 3 to bed, if I'm hoping to sleep in the next morning.
Thanks for being awesome Lunagals! (Posted on 8/25/13)
I love these for the first couple of days of my period, when the flow is heavier. And love them for wearing overnight to provide more coverage. They are definitely a bit bulky just because they're long, so I don't love wearing them out - but I have before. Just need to choose my clothing a little more carefully. These are an essential part of my lunapad collection! (Posted on 3/6/13)
I love these, they are so absorbent, and they don't -itch- and feel bulky like the disposable pads I've always used. So great for sleeping and heavy days. I was a little worried about the ick factor, but it really isn't bad at all. -Wearing- it is -way- less icky than disposable. As for cleanup, I only bought one to try, and I rinse it out before tossing them in the wash, and no problem. Getting a couple more so I don't have to use anything else. I'll probably get some pantyliners too. Those wouldn't strictly be necessary, since disposable liners don't really have the same itchiness and general discomfort you get with the disposable heavy flow pads, but hey, might as well be more comfortable all the time. Docked a star because the label isn't needed. Three stars because of the cleaning and it takes a lot of water. I think the amount of water needed to clean pads is a down side. We have to cut back on water use during water restrictions. I'll use disposables in those times.
Tip = don't unpick the label. It makes the holder come off. The label goes on the back which I didn't realise. I just stitched it back together by hand. It would be better if there were no label.
I'm was a skeptic and am surprised by the absorbency of cloth pads. They are good. In that respect it's better than disposables. Doesn't change the need for nurophen tablets (I read cloth could make people feel better, not for everyone).
I'll use these at home only, great for at night, but it's still a bit too bulky and not very comfy to walk with. The shorter length ones are better for during the day. (Posted on 8/25/12)
I would love to try these products. If I won the gift card I think I would purchase a few sets of these. (Posted on 4/30/12)
A number of years ago I found the site and I asked my hubby if it was a good idea for me to get some pads. I ended up getting some for me and some for a friend of mine. I used mine for MONTHS. I moved and I couldn't find them, so I was forced to buy the bad pads at the store. Last month I found a few of my pads and finally got to use them. I bleed very heavy and with the store pads it didn't matter if I lined my panties with three of them, I would bleed EVERYWHERE. When I started using my Lunapads again, NO LEAKS and NO MESS! I'm saving money by reusing these great pads. I will never go back to the store for then EVER! In fact, I'm thinking about getting more. I don't even see the type I got years ago on here.. I got a bunch of pads, liners and a Lunablanket. I'm telling all my girlfriends about Lunapads!! (Posted on 4/13/12)
These are great to wear. If you've had a problem with "diaper rash" or heat rash from wearing disposable pads in the summer, then you will love these even more. They keep you dry and clean without the extra heat rash problem. We just had an exceptionally hot summer, and these didn't bother me a bit.
Nicely absorbent for days when I didn't feel like wearing the Diva cup. (Posted on 9/15/11)
I have an allergy to disposable pads and always had to deal with a terrible rash that would take all month to heal...just in time for my next period. Lunapads have solved that problem, and surprisingly I haven't had any leaks on my underwear since starting to use them either!
They also provided me so much comfort during a miscarriage, when I bled through a hospital pad in 15 minutes, I could wear these long pads for more like an hour and with much more comfort, allowing me to relax and sleep. It made the tough situation so much more manageable, and I'm very very grateful to have had them. (Posted on 4/30/11)
I am so HAPPY with my pads I really can not say how thankful I am. I have an allergy to disposable pads and break out in a rash within 2 hours of wearing one; if I am forced to wear them throughout my period I will have scabs from the rash. Until 6 years ago I thought everyone went through this and it was hell, now that I have luna pads I am able to enjoy the blessing and self reflection that comes with my period. (Posted on 4/14/11)
These are perfect! These were the very first luna pads I tried back in July 2010 and I fell in love. They provide complete coverage so you can be confident that you won't have any marks on your clothing when the day is done. Luna pads changed my life, I'll never go back to disposables! (Posted on 3/9/11)
I'm petite, but I need a LOT of coverage at night. I sometimes have to slide the liner back to make the Long Pad a little longer and prevent leaks, which is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I should probably just try the Heavy Pad. Anyhow, the fabric is so comfortable I sort of hate taking them off in the morning. Seriously! (Posted on 2/4/11)
These were perfect for postpartum during the day! I love the extra length and comfort and am so glad I had these!! (Posted on 2/4/11)
These are perfect for my heaviest days! I have really heavy and long periods, and I've tried everything including other cloth pads, but these are the best. I love being able to change just the liner and not the whole pad. They don't look like they hold as much as they do. It's kind of incredible when I wash out a liner to see how much it was actually holding! They work really well, and don't irritate my skin like disposables do. (Posted on 12/31/10)
