Set of 2 Mini Basic or Mini Wing Inserts. Watch Video
Inserts enhance the absorbency of Pads and Lunapanties to meet your particular needs, and will last approximately as long per use as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon. A single Pad will last you through a full day of your cycle, provided that the Insert is changed before soaking through. Unlike Pantyliners, Inserts must be used in conjunction with a Pad or Lunapanty.

How many Inserts do I need?
You can expect to use 1 Pad or Lunapanty per day, changing your Inserts 1 - 6 times, depending on how light or heavy your periods are. When your Insert becomes saturated, replace with a fresh, dry Insert. Multiple Inserts may be added (up to 4 at a time for very heavy flow) to help prevent leaks.

Mini Basic Inserts are approx. 8" (19cm) long and 2.5" (6cm) wide
Mini Wing Inserts are approx. 8" (19cm) long and 5.5" (14cm) wide across the wings.

Inserts are  made from 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece with serged edges.

Inserts enhance the absorbency of Lunapads and Lunapanties to meet your particular needs. Each Insert will last approximately as long (per use) as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon. Additional mindfulness may be advisable, however, as Lunapads are made with natural, more porous fibers and do not contain added chemicals or absorbing agents. Given this, Lunapads users need to be mindful of changing the Insert as frequently as their flow dictates in order to prevent soaking through the Pad. Frequent changing of the Inserts significantly enhances the comfort and performance of the Pad.

Inserts can be washed by hand or machine in any temperature with your regular detergent. Pre-soaking or rinsing in cold water prior to washing is recommended, but not always necessary, particularly if the pads are not heavily saturated. Please note that if pads are being soaked, soaking water must be changed daily.

We recommend Nellie’s Natural Laundry Soda for regular cleaning, and Buncha Farmers Stain Remover to perk up stained pads. Heavily stained liners may also occasionally benefit from machine wash and dry in hot settings.

Please avoid the use of chlorine bleach or fabric softeners.

Inserts can be added as desired by sliding the ends under the ric-rac bands on a Pad. Wing Inserts rest comfortably against the inner thigh, providing added lateral (side-to-side) protection. Multiple Inserts may be stacked for increased absorbency. Pads can be refreshed throughout the day or night as desired by removing and replacing the Inserts. Please note that Inserts are not intended to be worn without a Pad.

    1. Good overall Review by Lily

Super comfy, I found them kinda thick, and since the closure is only underneath it kind of makes a funny bulge in the front with yoga pants. Also I had to soak them in the washer, then wash, and still not as clean as I'd like. But still better than disposables! (Posted on 1/31/14)

    2. Soft, Super Absorbent, Excellent for Travel/Away but... Review by Spirulina

I ordered the lovely organic cotton mini pad and inserts. I found that they were superbly absorbent, lasting a while before I needed to change, and absolutely adorable. However, I found that even after hand washing they shrink quite a bit. It's not an outstanding difference, but I wish the pads and inserts fabrics were pre-washed before being sold, so that shrinkage wouldn't even be noticeable. The inserts I have not washed are probably about 2 centimeters or longer than the base now, after it has been washed, along with some of the other inserts. Also, I hand wash everything, no machine! So it's not the misdeed of a hot dryer. I hope this can be improved upon in the future, because I absolutely love Lunapads and will be ordering from them again.

Otherwise, ladies, make the switch and never go back! Lunapads are great for women who are traveling and wish to be discreet. All you need is one base pad and a whole plethora of inserts. The inserts are small enough that they can all be shoved in a jar or canteen to soak while you are away at someone's house or traveling. As for side leakage, just get the winged. As for blood on the ric rac bands, just wipe it off. What's the difference between that and on the pad itself? Enjoy! (Posted on 12/3/12)

    3. Absorbent and cozy! Review by Lauren

I really prefer the winged liners over the basic variety, because the wings help protect my panties from any leaks. Also, since the pads don't have the leak-resistant nylon inside of the wings that snap around my panties, these winged liners are a real plus. I wish I could choose to buy winged liners instead of basic ones with each new pad!

These are absorbent and so soft and comfortable that I wish every pair of underwear I own was made of this fabric! They are easy to clean and, with the "Buncha Farmers Stain Remover", I have had almost no staining on my purple liners. I have yet to try other colors.

      Thanks, LunaGals! (Posted on 7/9/12)

    4. I like these! Review by Daniela

I recently ordered a bunch of these to go with my mini and maxi pad bases. They are still new, so I haven't washed/reused them yet, but I'm happy with them so far.

PROS: Relatively inexpensive, super soft, well made, absorbant
CONS: Low variety of colours available in the sizes of pads that I ordered (Posted on 6/11/12)

    5. Great overall use Review by Ell

Overall, the mini liners are great to use with the mini pads. I use them for my whole period, no need for longer ones!

I've found that the non-winged liners can leak on heavy days, so I recommend using winged liners on those days. However, on regular flow days, the non-winged liners are great. Comfy and absorbent.

It's great being able to change the liner without having to change the whole pad!

As someone else has said, I find that the light pink and blue show up stains, so I prefer black for flow days. (Posted on 3/19/12)

    6. Long-term user weighs in Review by Fire Aphid

Funny thing, with disposables, I needed the longest ones to keep from leaking off the ends, but with cloth, the shortest pads serve me well, and with less bulk. The fluffy cotton fleece seems to "grab" fluid before it can migrate very far. The downside is that it doesn't let go of the blood easily, so handwashing isn't really practical.

My favorite Lunapad is the Mini Pad, and I use Mini Liners with them, the Wing ones for heavier flow and the Basic ones the rest of the time. I usually stick with the Mini Pad, but I like that I can use Mini Liners with the Maxi Pad, too, when I want more coverage without the bulk of a longer liner when I know I'll only bleed through in the middle.

And I love that Mini Liners are small enough to fit in my pockets! I don't carry a purse, so it is essential for me to be able to bring everything I need for a day on my person. Not to mention that it's nice to not have to bring anything with me to the restroom! Plus, they dry very quickly, so they're ideal for long trips when I'll need to wash my pads before I'm home again.

However, my first Lunapads are nearly four years old now, and my oldest Mini Liners are substantially less absorbent than they used to be. Since I've never been able to squeeze more than one liner into a single Lunapad, I have to be much more vigilant about changing my older Mini Liners than my newer ones, which is irritating at best and messy at worst. (Posted on 9/28/11)

    7. These are very soft! Review by Loucheena

These liners feel very soft against my skin. I tested their absorbency with water, and the held a tablespoon's worth just fine! I even squeezed them to see if they would leak, and they didn't! I don't use these with the mini pad though. Instead, I'm planning to put them under some of my non-waterproof cloth pads and use them as a booster, or just extra leak protection! (Posted on 2/8/11)

    8. Use What You Need Review by Meghan G

The thing I love about the liners is that you can add one or two (depending on your flow) to the pad. This is great because everyone has a different flow. I usually use the regular liners but lately I have had a growing appreciation for the winged liners. They are perfect for the heavier days of your period as an extra guard against leaks.

I have been using Lunapads for over a year now and I have decided that the mini's are what works best for me. Every time that I have had to use disposables for some reason I find the experience more uncomfortable than the last. (Posted on 2/5/11)

    9. Soft and comfortable Review by Carla

I love having a bunch of less expensive liners to switch out on my lunapads winged pad. I use the mini pad every day of my cycle for regular discharge, and I found that lighter colors (pink and blue) show the stains less (whereas during your period darker colors hide the stains better). The liners are soft and durable, and I just love them. (Posted on 2/4/11)
