If I could marry it, I would. And my partner would understand. Review by Bee
I had the worst time with tampons for several years before I tried the Divacup. I had known of something who used one in high school and all my friends made fun of her, commenting on how 'gross' it was to collect period blood like that, so I never assumed Divacup was an option.
I used pads for many years because I was afraid of tampons breaking in me, or in general being uncomfortable (I never wanted to shove ANYTHING up there!) and I grew to hate them; the way I thought I could smell it, the way that they crinkled, they way they leaked, that weird chemical rash that I was getting (and I didn't realize it at the time, I thought I just had sensitive skin).
So I switched to tampons in my first year of university, which was awkward and painful and they leaked randomly. I was always on guard in case I was leaking, and I could feel the string rubbing. Eventually I developed some kind of pain after using tampons for several days straight. Then it became pain if I used more than one in a row. I was waking up about chemicals around that same time so I switched to natural organic cotton tampons and the pain was alleviated, but I was still plagued with the notion that a piece would be left behind inside me, or that I was leaking constantly, and why was that darn string rubbing me so wrong??
In a moment of passion, I bought the Divacup on my way home on day. And I immediately felt happier, lighter - and I hadn't even used it yet! My period came early that month, so I didn't get any practice working with it. Needless to say, there were a few 'accidents' in that first cycle...or two...
But now I have the hang of it, and I'm in love! I'm in love! I don't care who knows it!!! I tell everybody what an amazing product it is! No chemical rash, and even though it's wider than a tampon, it is so much more comfortable! I know you aren't supposed to leave them in for longer than twelve hours at a time, but honestly, there are days nearing the end of flow that I completely forget that it's in there. (I'm not being a cheesey commercial; I really do feel like twirling now!)
I'm saving on money, the environment, feminine wiping products (from cleaning up tampon leaks and pad impressions), no fear, total comfort, complete satisfaction. :)
If the Divacup had a behind, I would tell you that the sun shines out of it. (Posted on 10/10/13)
No regrets Review by Sabrina
I cannot explain how much I love the DivaCup. I've used it for 3 periods now and it's only gotten better as I've learn to use it. I thought for sure I would feel it or it would hurt as I can't stand tampons (I'm petite and very sensitive), but I don't notice it at all. All the gross feelings that come with menstruation are gone. I feel clean and fresh the whole way through and it's amazing. I agree with some of the other reviews, it is so weird to feel so passionately about the cup, but I can't help it!
Now, to be fair, it's not 100% fool-proof. When my period first starts, sometimes it's incredibly heavy and little leaks can happen if I don't empty the cup every few hours. But it doesn't happen often and is WORLDS better than dealing with pads. I feel like I have to put the cup in further than the directions recommend to prevent leaks and to make it more comfortable, otherwise the ridges at the bottom rub. Maybe I am just reading the directions wrong or maybe it's the way my body is. I suggest trying a few different ways until you figure out what works. I also trimmed the stem almost totally off and never have a problem removing it. I really don't think it could ever get stuck.
If you've been hesitating about buying it, don't. It's well worth the money and so much better than any diaper-y pad or painful tampon. (Posted on 9/20/13)
Don't give up if DivaCup doesn't fit right, there are other options Review by Sara B
DivaCup was my first menstrual cup. I liked it but found that both sizes didn't seem to fit me right.
In the beginning, I thought it was inexperience and admittedly there is a learning curve to using a cup (but then I remember there was one for using tampons and getting them to fit right too). When I would go for a walk, I could feel it hanging low. I trimmed the tab completely off. I bought the smaller size thinking that would help. It didn't.
I did some research on-line and found a site that reviewed many of the cups available and gave dimensions, etc. I saw that DivaCup seemed to be one of the biggest cups for sale. I decided to try Lunette. I got the larger size because of my age and was relatively happy with it, but I thought it could be better. I then bought the smaller size and am extremely pleased. A smaller size means it holds less volume but the smaller size just is more comfortable. Moral of the story: don't judge all menstrual cups based on your experience with The DivaCup. There are plenty of shapes and sizes out there. (Posted on 9/13/13)
Love it Review by Mollie
I've been a happy Diva Cup user for almost two years. I never used tampons prior to this, and there's a learning curve (wear back up pads/liners), but it's worth it.
Before getting the DivaCup, I read up on other people's experiences, and it seemed like many folks cut the stem. I decided to wait, try it a while, and make sure that's what I wanted. At first, I was afraid of putting the cup too far up, so the lower, longer stem irritated me. What I learned is that you definitely can't lose the cup, and if it's ever too high, bear down and the stem pops right out. Don't be afraid to put it higher up when you're inserting the cup. I never cut the stem, and I'm happy because it makes it easier to grab.
Fast forward to today. I had the joy of getting my period on triathlon day, and I was concerned that the stem would be lower and get in the way given pre-race bearing down inside a port-a-potty (also why I didn't want to try to adjust it). It was no issue, and I never even felt any part of the cup through the swimming, biking or running. I really love this thing. (Posted on 8/26/13)
It's not just for hippies y'all! Review by NotAHippie
Okay so before I start this review, I don't mean hippie in a negative way. I just think that products like this (Divacup and Lunapads) have a rep for only being for those who care about the environment. But I think this product should be more mainstream.
I am a hardcore girly girl, I spend ludicrous amounts of money on makeup, I bleach my hair and I don't always recycle as much as I should. (I should mention I am 17) I bought the Divacup because I have extremely heavy periods and I am tired of toting around 6 or 10 super plus tampons in my purse. Plus I am also a girl who loooooooves my sleep so at night my options are A wear a pad and have to deal with that diapery feeling and leaks, or B have to set an alarm so I can only get 8 hours sleep (on my days off I like to sleep 10 hours if I can, since I usually only get 6 on a work night) which majorly sucks! I also usually spend at lease $18 on organic tampons alone, not including pads or liners (so maybe I am a little bit of a hippie but I found that rayon tampons were giving my lady bits a bit of a rash) every 2 months so this will basically pay for itself in less than 6 months.
I do find that on my heaviest days I have to empty it every 3-4 hours to prevent leaks but that is because my period is REALLY heavy. But it is super easy, I just empty it and give it a wipe with TP when I'm at work and pop it back in then wash it when I get home. And at night I wear a lunapad as well so even when it fills up and starts to leak I can still continue to sleep and it's really no big deal. (My drugstore sells both lunapads and the divacup so I got a couple lunapads to try but I am doing a full order asap because I love them.)
I did find that I had a learning curve my first cycle, I did try putting it in a few times before my period started so I got used to it but it was still a little tricky. I use the push-down fold because I am quite small down there and I find it's easier to insert, the only thing is you have to make sure you get it open all the way when you use that fold, to do this I use my finger to push the side until I hear it pop open then run my finger around the divacup to make sure it is open all the way. I find taking it out can be a little painful but the blood doesn't bug me, to me it's no more gross that pulling out a soiled tampon.
I am also ordering a peri bottle because I think it will make public washrooms easier.
So overall I love the divacup, I love that I don't have to worry about having enough tampies to last me through the day, because as long as my divacup is in, I know that it doesn't matter how heavy my flow is, I just empty it more if needed. I also have found my lady bits feel a lot less dry and irritated because it works for any flow and doesn't dry me out. I am on my third cycle with it and I don't think I will go back to tampies.
Love you divacup! (Posted on 7/20/13)
works well Review by Boo
I wish I knew about this sooner. I have been using the Diva cup for over a year and am so happy with it. I have NEVER had a leak and can go swimming... On heavy days I do need to empty it every 4-6 hours but I couldn't go that long with tampons and pads anyway. Night time is so much more comfortable. (Posted on 7/18/13)
Wish I'd Known Sooner! Review by Lula
I decided to try the Diva Cup because I was tired of having to worry about leaks at night, or set an alarm to wake myself up to change my tampon. This is the first period I have used it for and I am already convinced. The instructions are easy to follow and the cup itself is amazing. No leaks, extremely comfortable and such a relief! Every girl should have this amazing product! (Posted on 6/13/13)

Every girl should have one. Review by Love
This product is life changing. I have heard a couple people say it doesn't fit or work, but I encourage everyone to try it. What have you got to lose? It's the perfect travel companion, cares for the environment and costs so little. Plus it's made in Canada! Like me.

The easiest thing in the world! Review by marquessa
I was surfing the web one day a couple of years ago looking for a more environmentally friendly option towards Aunt Flow (let's face it...quite a bit of landfills are overflowing with our old menstrual products) and found this site. I took the plunge and bought my first Diva cup, and am now trying to convert my entire family :)
Not only is it the best thing ever, but it's so easy! Change it in the morning, head out for the day, forget you're even on your period, and then come home and change it at night. I've only ever leaked once, and to be fair, I knew it was in wrong and knew I should have adjusted it, but I didn't (lesson learned!)
I've done half marathons with the Diva Cup in, I've swam, I've camped, I've done Zumba and Yoga and I've attended Boot Camp sessions with this thing in - still no leaks.
When I went to see a Naturopath for the first time earlier this year, one of her questions was "what products do you use for your monthly cycle" and I was proud to say "A Diva Cup". She was delighted to hear me say this, as she highly recommends them to all of her female clients.
I suggest this product to everybody out there who wants convenience, cost-efficiency and peace of mind.
And for those of you who are worried about sizing, I am over 30 and have never delivered a child, and a size 2 still fit me perfectly (I am 5'4", but I do have birthin' hips and am not petite)
PS: I was so happy to see so many positive reviews, and am glad so many other people out there love this product as much as I do! (Posted on 5/15/13)
