Lunapads welcomes former o.b. users!

I don’t normally like to indulge in schadenfreude, but I need to admit to a teeny-tiny bit of gloating as we watch the saga of the missing o.b. tampons unfold.

I was just surfing the o.b. Facebook “fan” (not so much these days) page and found this comment to be representative of the trend: “I ordered my Divacup after learning about it from other women on this and other sites. Hopefully I won’t have to buy tampons anymore. I am sooo disappointed with J&J about how they handled this situation. No more Ultras? bye bye o.b.s!”

The good (no, make that excellent) news is that we are getting a ton of traffic and new customers as a result: so much so, that we made this little video to say hello! Welcome, new Luna fans! We think that you will find both our products as well as our customer service to be a welcome change. Let us know if you have any questions, and be sure to let us know how your new DivaCups and Lunapads work out. Oh, and for those of you who are still on the fence, use promo code “obwtf” to receive $5 off a DivaCup!

    What a wonderful video!!

I was giving the thumbs up in agreement regarding the end-of-cycle owwies removing tampons…that was the WORST!!

It’s so lovely that you are welcoming a new group of women and with such a huge amount of support. I’m sure more women will feel comfortable at least TRYING Lunapads and other products from your company.

    great going Lunagals.

    thanks for posting 🙂

  • Woo hoo to Madeleine for that great video, to Lunapads for the new surge of customers, and to all the woman willing to give something new a try! I hope you find menstrual-life-long customers from o.b.’s “saga.”

  • Nice posting and video! I just read about the ob shortage on msn (yikes!) and it made me want to run down to the nearest grocery store because I think I am running low. I saw your company mentioned in the article and decided to check out your site. I recently started a blog and have written a couple of postings about recycling, and reducing our garbage. I also love being able to support a company that is based close to home. I am totally inspired to give your product a try and will definitely do a posting about it on my own blog. Thanks!

I have been using OB tampons for several years now because I thought they were the most environmentally friendly option out there (no applicator, not as much plastic as a pad etc etc). In university I learned about reusable pads (it never even occurred to me what my grandmother might have used!) and tried making my own, but my sewing skills were sorely lacking so I stuck with OB tampons. I had been having a hard time finding them lately, but thought it was because I switched grocery stores and that maybe my new store didn’t sell them? Then I read an article in Maclean’s about the whole tampon shortage. It made me realise that I needed to do something, and looked into reusable pads again. Just placed my first order yesterday and for the first time in my life, I can’t wait for my period so I can try them out!
