MAIA has you covered with an absorbent, leakproof panel built right in.

MAIA styles allow you to replace any disposable menstrual or bladder leakage products you might be using for everyday, during your period, or for light bladder leaks. Wear for daily comfort or customize the absorbency to fit your flow by adding the Insert(s) of your choice and changing throughout the day. MAIA offers complete protection during your period, and work wonderfully for light bladder leakage too. If you have the occasional "oops!" moment, MAIA will keep you comfortably dry and leak-free!

The MAIA Hipster offers sensible rear and side coverage with non-elasticized leg openings for added comfort. Made from a soft durable cotton spandex blend for a comfortably snug fit. This is our most popular plus size style!

Sizes XS - LG include 1 Maxi Insert. XL- 3XL  includes 1 Long Insert. Add Maxi Inserts, Long Inserts, Overnight or Postpartum Inserts to increase absorbency. Mini Inserts are not compatible.

Construction and Performance

Body: 95% Cotton and 5% Spandex
Lining: PUL (polyurethane laminate) and cotton fleece
Insert: 100% cotton fleece.

Worn without an Insert, MAIA underwear will last approximately as long (per use) as a disposable pad or pantyliner. Inserts can be added for additional absorbency as needed, allowing you to use the same undies for a full day. Changing your Insert as needed is the key to staying comfortable and dry.

How to Use

Inserts can be added as desired by inserting the ends under the bands at each end of the lining. Multiple Inserts may be inserted for increased absorbency.  Inserts can be refreshed throughout the day or night as desired by simply removing and replacing.

Sizes XS - LG include 1 Maxi Liner Insert. XL- 3XL includes 1 Long Liner Insert. Add Maxi Inserts, Long Inserts, Overnight or Postpartum Inserts to increase absorbency. Mini Inserts are not compatible.

Wash and Care

MAIA underwear are fully machine wash & dry safe in any temperature. A quick pre-rinse or soak in cold water prior to washing is recommended, but not necessary, particularly if they are not heavily saturated. Do not soak for longer than 24 hours.

We recommend natural cleaning products such as Nellie’s All Natural Laundry Soda for regular cleaning, and Buncha Farmers Stain Remover to perk up stained underwear. Heavy stains may also benefit from occasional machine wash and dry in hot settings or air drying in direct sunlight.

Please avoid the use of chlorine bleach or fabric softeners as this will decrease the performance of the products and is harmful to the environment.

Love them. Hope they improve!!!Review by Tam
So I've been using these for over three years now, and repeatedly purchase them. They're my favorite period panties, and I hope they improve.
Cons: 1. lining in the front ends right in the middle of my bleed zone. If they brought the lining up higher in front (and probably in back), they'd hit the bleed zones for all women, not just some statistical average woman.
2. Seams start to unravel in about a year. I can still use them, but they're slowly falling apart. I'm mystified by this because they get less use than other panties that are older than them and holding up better. Maybe single stitching needs to be doubled and double stitching needs to be tripled, etc?
PROS: 1. The only coverage I need for a light day or backup, and with the additional, changeable liner inserts, the only coverage I need (assuming I have access to change the inserts frequently enough).
2. Built in loops to hold the liner inserts
3. Available in a wide range of sizes
4. Made of cotton
5. Comfortable!!!
6. Great style and a fun variety of colors (Posted on 9/4/2017)
The best yetReview by CEO_Mommy
I have tried other period panties and these are by far the most comfortable!! The one improvement I would suggest is to bring the "protective" fabric/liner higher in the back and in the front to prevent spills/leaks. (Posted on 8/23/2017)
Comfortable Review by Amy
True to size and comfortable. I bought them to wear at night, because I still don't like the feeling of wearing a pad during the day. Much thinner and more comfortable than pads, but you can still feel it's there. Just wish you had the option to have the pad part not so long. I have a lighter flow and don't need that. Can't wear with leggings or jeggins because you can see the pad bulge in the rear. (Posted on 6/15/2017)
A good productReview by S.P.
They are comfortable and the insert is a plus. After having tried the Selene model, I realized sometimes you need to change your panties in unpractical situations (like being in the outdoors). Changing/removing the insert is a nice alternative to feel fresher without having to take off your pants to change the panties.
Another positive thing for the insert is that allows for more protection with less bulk (compared to the traditional pads with wings).
I wash them in the washing machine (I rinse them before if too soaked) and they come out clean.
The size fits fine (I took the same size I use for everyday underwear).
One thing I would improve is the front strap to hold the insert in place. It's placed too low. Not uncomfortable, but gets stained. (Posted on 4/29/2017)
Totally worth itReview by Montana
Yes, they are pricey, but they make pads so much more comfortable. Sometimes pads can feel heavy and pull your underwear down or get twisted, but these are snug but not tight and stay in place. I also like that they are made in Canada and give Canadians jobs. I wear these for light incontinence when running and when I get my period. The Maia hipster is my favorite fit, but the bikini is good too. I found the M in the hipster was similar to the L in the bikini. I was worried the lack of elastic in the hipster would mean the leg holes would not stay in place, but they stay in place just fine and do not roll. Give them a whirl! (Posted on 4/6/2017)
No More Wedgies!Review by RB
I have a history of every underwear giving me the world's worst wedgies. I can never go a minute without having to pull on my underwear. But thanks to a suggestion by the wonderful people of Lunapads, I bought a pair of this underwear and have been wedgie free ever since. It also gives me full butt coverage so I am a lot more comfortable. The great thing about Lunapads underwear, is that they're breathable so I'm no longer getting infections every time I sweat. Plus they have plenty of padding/coverage so I don't have to worry about my leaks and can stay fresh all day. They're also super comfy and I totally recommend everyone to buy one! Comfort and Confidence in OneReview by Kat
These underwear are super comfortable, true to size (XL/size 14), and give me confidence to get through a busy day at work without any leaks. I have a very unpredictable flow and it's caused me many leak crises over the years, and with these panties I'm both comfortable and confident that I'm covered. I wasn't sure on the price at first so only ordered two pair (hipster and bikini) to start, and came back and ordered 3 more pairs after first use! Both styles are comfortable for me. Definitely worth the price. (Posted on 2/4/2017)
Very Comy! Very Functional!Review by Robert
Very near my favorite undies ever! These are super soft and comfy, and have lasted as long, or longer than any panties I've ever had. I like being able to use different or multiple liners for whatever my day might bring. Definitely worth every penny in both comfort and function, and it doesn't hurt that they look nice too!

Very comfyReview by Jenny
I ordered a couple pairs of these lunapanties and they are super comfortable. They are less bulky feeling than the lunapads with inserts and everything stays in place better. Glad I got deluxe the heavy flow kit, but I think I'll use the panties w/inserts more. (Posted on 4/11/2016)
Only OKReview by Carly
I really wanted to love these and was excited by the positive reviews. However, I just don't find them comfortable. I know they were made without elastic seams on purpose, but for me, that makes them feel kind of gaping at the back and leaves them either giving me a wedgie or moving around a lot. I much, much prefer elastic. I also feel like they become even more uncomfortable with inserts. Without inserts, they are fine for light days, but I've worn them on heavier days and bled right through the whole pair, staining my pants. I hoped for better. (Posted on 4/10/2016)
Fantastic Fit, Holds Pads Snug & Leak Proof!Review by EcoFluffyMama
When I first saw the cost of the MAIA Hipsters, I was like woah. That's more than I have ever spent on knickers, period. But then my MAIA Hipsters arrived. And let me tell you, these are in a class of their own. The craftsmanship is absolutely incredible, and oh that soft cotton. I really love the leakproof gusset, which is reassuring to have. Especially if like me, you have a wonky cycle and an extremely heavy flow on the first few days. The Hipsters have soft elastic in the gusset in which you can place inserts; for daily use to keep fresh and even as backup to a menstrual cup (Woo no more needing to use pads for backup!). The MAIA's are extremely well fitting, super snug but not so much that you feel like your bottom is being wrapped in tight clingfilm.. a comfy snug, enough to hold your pad in place so it absolutely does not slip slide everywhere, but with enough give to feel comfortable when you're feeling crabby and uncomfortable. Even with being active all day, there's absolutely zero sagging going on, and they wash up so very well. No bobbling. I would absolutely recommend these. Okay so they're not cheap but you absolutely get what you pay for, and these are an investment piece. Thanks, Lunapads!! (Posted on 10/15/2015)
Great design and fit but non-breathableReview by Nushka
I agree with the other reviewers that the fit is excellent, best underwear ever, but I discovered that I do not tolerate the supposedly breathable waterproof liner. I have no issues with disposable pads, so I am not sure why the waterproof liner in the Maia panties and Lunapads are such a problem for me. The company gracefully gave me a credit and I switched to the Vesta - cotton only panties which have the same great fit. I took my hip measurement before ordering and the fit was true to size. My favourite!Review by Ashley
These are my absolute favourite underwear. I love them so much I'm in the process of slowly replacing my other (not so comfortable) underwear with luna panties. I love them for every day, but especially during that time of the month. I can't imagine going back to any other brand. They are worth the price (imo) and it is so worth building a considerable stash. :) (Posted on 8/19/2015)
Ready For AnythingReview by Jess
Best. Underwear. Ever. The XL I ordered was true to the measurements listed and fit great. The padded section makes me feel covered up and protected without being too bulky or noticeable. I really wish these were offered in a bike or boxer short style! (Posted on 4/11/2015)
I'd wear them everyday if I couldReview by best period panties
I LOVE THESE! GREAT COVERAGE :D I have had my luna undies for a couple years & bought pairs for all my girls. They are the most comfortable underwear ever, and I would wear them everyday if I had enough pairs! :) (Posted on 1/15/2015)
Thank You For Plus SizesReview by Hannah
I love the way these boy shorts hug my curves. My favorite way to wear them is with my diva cup, just in case, or when I'm just lounging around the house. Thank you for making panties for full, ample bodies like mine! (Posted on 4/1/2014)
Reliable and ComfortableReview by Jen
These are #1 in my Lunapanties collection, and are some of the softest, best fitting underwear I own. I love the ease & simplicity of the built in protection, and have recommended them to my mother and several friends. Lunapanties cost more than I'm generally used to spending on underwear, but the bonus features and the quality really make them worth the price. (Posted on 3/4/2014)

Lunapads How-to Guide

Reusable menstrual products are eco-friendly, money-saving, healthy alternatives to disposable pads and tampons. Lunapads will last well over 5 years with recommended use and care! While individual use may vary, we estimate that a single Lunapad replaces 120 disposable pads or tampons.

A Conversation about The DivaCup

There are lots of reasons to switch from tampons to The DivaCup; convenience, comfort, your health, the environment, financial savings & more. This first episode in our new video series shares the personal accounts of a group of DivaCup users, and explores what motivated each woman to try this innovative menstrual solution.

Why Switch to Lunapads?

Roughly 20 billion pads, tampons and applicators are sent to North American landfills annually. Each menstruating person in North America will throw away an estimated 16,800 disposable pads or tampons in their lifetime; products that require hundreds of years to biodegrade. Imagine the difference we could make if we chose to ditch the disposables.
