Set of 2 Maxi Basic or Maxi Wing Inserts.
Maxi Inserts enhance the absorbency of Lunapads Maxi Pads and Luna Undies to meet your particular needs, and will last approximately as long per use as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon. A single pad or pair of underwear will last through a full day of your cycle, provided that the insert is changed before soaking through. Unlike Pantyliners, Inserts must be used in conjunction with a Classic Pad or Lunapads Underwear

How many Inserts do I need?
You can expect to use 1 Pad or pair of Lunapads Underwear per day, changing your Inserts 1 - 6 times, depending on how light or heavy your periods are. When your Insert becomes saturated, replace with a fresh, dry Insert. Multiple Inserts may be added (up to 3 at a time for very heavy flow) to help prevent leaks.

Maxi Basic Inserts are approx. 10" (25cm) long and 2.5" (6cm) wide
Maxi Wing Inserts are approx. 10" (25cm) long and 5.5" (14cm) wide across the wings.

Construction and Performance

Inserts are made from 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece.

Inserts enhance the absorbency of Lunapads and Luna Undies to meet your particular needs. Lunapads will last approximately as long (per use) as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon. Additional mindfulness may be advisable, however, as Lunapads are made with natural, more porous fibers and do not contain added chemicals or absorbing agents. Given this, Lunapads users need to be mindful of changing the Insert as frequently as their flow dictates in order to prevent soaking through the Pad. Frequent changing of the Inserts significantly enhances the comfort and performance of the Pad.

How to Use

Inserts can be added as desired by inserting the ends under the ric-rac bands on a Pad. Wing Inserts rest comfortably against the inner thigh, providing added lateral (side-to-side) protection. Multiple Inserts may be used for increased absorbency. Pads can be refreshed throughout the day or night as desired by removing and replacing the Inserts. Please note that Inserts are not intended to be worn without a Pad.

Wash and Care

Inserts can be washed by hand or machine in any temperature with your regular detergent. Pre-soaking or rinsing in cold water prior to washing is recommended, but not always necessary, particularly if the Inserts are not heavily saturated. Do not soak for longer than 24 hours.

We recommend Nellie’s Natural Laundry Soda for regular cleaning, and Buncha Farmers Stain Remover to perk up stained Inserts. Heavily stained Inserts may also occasionally benefit from machine wash and dry in hot settings.

Please avoid the use of chlorine bleach or fabric softeners.

A Great ProductReview by Danielle
My cloth pad stash is comprised of all Lunapads products.... As a bit of a minimalist, I enjoy having to buy fewer items overall, due to the long-lasting quality and the changeable base/insert styling (pads). I have a moderate flow and use maxi pads for day time. I have 10 maxi base pads and 22 matching inserts. These are fabulous! In my experience, they have always been consistent in size, quality and absorbancy. The oldest ones in my stash are about 3 1/2 years old and still going strong. (Posted on 1/13/2015)
Ok, but some flawsReview by Jessi
I absolutely love love love the insert that I got with my maxi pad. But the problem is that these ones are NOT the same. They are a smidge longer and a smidge narrower. Which doesn't sound bad but it kind of is. They bunch up a little bit more and they are a little harder to put in because they are longer and bunch up more. I don't really mind them being narrower but it's just a little annoying that they are not the same as the liners you get with your pad. (Posted on 8/6/2012)
No more leaks, really?Review by Jen
No matter what kind of disposable pad I wore, I would ALWAYS leak. Out the side, the back, the front. Even when I was just sitting down or when my flow was light! I tried pads with wings, different sizes and brands but nothing helped.

When I first tried lunapads, I assumed the same thing would happen. But I was shocked: No more blood on my underwear or pants! The wing liners are a godsend! Nothing has EVER worked this well! I can wear khaki when i'm on my period! Thank you lunapads! (Posted on 9/3/2011)
Better than disposablesReview by Wings
I always used to wear wings in disposables, so I ordered the wings for the Lunapads. I used them for the first time last cycle and they rocked! In my opinion, they worked better than disposables. Take that, Always! (Posted on 6/1/2011)
Bicycling back-upReview by Liz
One thing I have always struggled with was having a back-up while riding my bicycle. (Those of you in the know will realize that cyclist don't have underwear under their shorts), so there is nothing to attach a pad to. On a recent ride, I tucked a liner into my shorts in order to protect the chamois. The experiment worked. The liner barely shifted during my ride. The only downside... Being cotton, it did soak up sweat in a somewhat unpleasant fashion. (Posted on 5/1/2011)

Lunapads How-to Guide

Reusable menstrual products are eco-friendly, money-saving, healthy alternatives to disposable pads and tampons. Lunapads will last well over 5 years with recommended use and care! While individual use may vary, we estimate that a single Lunapad replaces 120 disposable pads or tampons.

A Conversation about The DivaCup

There are lots of reasons to switch from tampons to The DivaCup; convenience, comfort, your health, the environment, financial savings & more. This first episode in our new video series shares the personal accounts of a group of DivaCup users, and explores what motivated each woman to try this innovative menstrual solution.

Why Switch to Lunapads?

Roughly 20 billion pads, tampons and applicators are sent to North American landfills annually. Each menstruating person in North America will throw away an estimated 16,800 disposable pads or tampons in their lifetime; products that require hundreds of years to biodegrade. Imagine the difference we could make if we chose to ditch the disposables.
